  1. Getting back to normal

by on 08-20-2010 at 11:42 AM
Thankfully, I am not owwing my way through this adjustment. The sensitivity is just about gone and mouth is almost back to feeling "normal". My bite does feel different in a great way so no complaints.

  2. No pain no gain?

by on 08-18-2010 at 11:26 AM
The ortho wasn't joking when he said the right side of my mouth was going to "be a bit sore". He has never said that to me before so I was forewarned. Again, (and luckily) it is not a constant soreness. It's very much like the last adjustment where the pain was when I try to bite down / into something hard. Both top and bottom on the right side are really letting me know they are working overtime. I just keep reminding myself that I'm ahead of schedule and it will be worth it. No, ...

  3. Adjustment time

by on 08-17-2010 at 03:43 PM
I went in for my adjustment today. Adjustments were made to the upper right 3 & 4 and bottom 4 teeth. My ortho says my teeth look great and think I may be finished ahead of time . I was so happy to hear that. The bottom braces could come off by mid October - not sure if I heard correctly.

I do feel the pressure from the adjustment and am hoping that I won't be "ow owwing" like I did at the last adjustment.

  4. Getting better

by on 07-26-2010 at 04:41 PM
The teeth in the top right quadrant are not as sensitive as they were last week but now the bottom back molars are letting me know they are around. I figure now that my bite has changed/roots are being moved, I am bound to feel something. This calls for ice cream - that's my excuse and I am sticking to it.

3 weeks to my next adjustment.

  5. I tawt I taw a Putty Tat

by on 07-23-2010 at 12:33 PM
Smarty pants that I am, I tried to bite down on something semi soft ... I tawt I taw a Putty Tat or did I see stars? The roots must be moving because sheeesh the upper right quadrant is really sensitive still. I'm grateful that the sensitivity is not a constant thing but rather when I bite into something semi soft or harder.

I can actually feel that my bite is different and it feels kind of weird but when I look in the mirror, I am happy. I keep looking in the mirror as though ...

Well, I can definitely tell something is going on and I know that is a good thing. Last night I tried to eat normally and felt the pain/pressure on the upper left fourth and bottom right third teeth. The ortho did tell me that I would feel some pain/pressure.

Thank goodness my pain threshold is pretty high because I actually do not need an pain meds. I just cannot bite down into anything too hard. It's a good excuse for me to have soft comfort foods .

  7. Adjustment day

by on 07-20-2010 at 02:29 PM
My adjustment today went well (as usual). The wire on top had to be snipped a bit as it seems the teeth are moving closer together . I know that there is some root movement is going to take place with this adjustment (based on what I heard the ortho tell the assistant).

I am feeling a bit of pressure on the top but nothing major. 4 more months to go.

  8. Same old

Nothing much to report here - I feel a slight bit of pressure (not pain) and the spaces between my upper teeth seem to be closing in. Other than that, I am wasting no time and am eating quite normal.

I went to see my periodontist this past Monday since I am about 4 1/2 months away from taking the braces off. I decided I will do the tooth implant on the lower left in the first week of January 2011 so I may take advantage of my Flexible Spending (here in the US) for 2011. I pretty ...

  9. Adjustment

by on 06-23-2010 at 08:49 AM
I had an adjustment yesterday. Ortho says the bite looks great so he told me stop wearing the elastics for now as he wants to see if the bite holds in place. Other than that, just a couple minor adjustments; wearing a power chain on top an a power chain on bottom. It must be my imagination but this adjustment has been a breeze - no sensitivity / nothing. I hope it's the same from now on .

  10. Sensitivity

by on 05-13-2010 at 02:01 PM
I am still not able to bite into anything firm because of the sensitivity I feel when I do. Other than that I'm quite fortunate that I don't have a constant ache/pain.

  11. Teeth/mouth not as sore ...

by on 05-12-2010 at 09:51 AM
So far, so good, my teeth/mouth are sore but not nearly as much as I anticipated so no need for any pain meds. I am however throwing caution to the wind and eating softer foods and making sure everything is cut in smaller pieces.

  12. Woo hoo adjustment time

by on 05-11-2010 at 03:16 PM
I just came back from a scheduled adjustment. As I mentioned in the last post or two, an x-ray was scheduled today as well as the adjustment. My ortho says my jaw bones and teeth/roots look fantastic so it was time to play with the roots. I was happy to hear that the condition of my bones / teeth were just fine and the bite is looking great.

The moment of sheer joy was fleeting as I heard the ortho mentioning the various adjustments he was doing. Of course I don't remember what ...

  13. Popped a bracket off

by on 04-27-2010 at 09:25 PM
Oops I suppose it's about time ... the bracket on the bottom left molar popped off. I had it replaced this morning and my ortho decided he would do a minor adjustment on the bottom. I now have a light strength elastic (kimodo dragon) from the top left 3 tooth to the bottom left 6 tooth day & night and a medium strength elastic from the top right 3 tooth to the bottom left 3 tooth night only.

My next adjustment has now been changed to May 11.

I can feel some pressure ...

  14. Sorry my entry is late ... adjustment done on April 6

by on 04-13-2010 at 09:46 AM
I have been MIA as I had problems logging in but that seems to be resolved now.

The wire in my upper left molar all the way in the back moved a bit during the last week prior to my recent adjustment. It actually came out of the bracket a tiny but so I know this adjustment would be a doozy.

I got my recent adjustment on Tuesday, April 6 and some bends were put into the top wire . The wire on the bottom was changed to a stronger wire. I didn't feel much when I initially ...

  15. Feeling the pressure of this adjustment

by on 03-04-2010 at 03:00 PM
I am not in pain to the point where I need medication, I am definitely feeling the pressure from this latest adjustment. At least this is my excuse for eating soft / comfort food.

The rubber band going across the front teeth feels weird but I am sure I will get used to that soon enough. Thankfully, I am only wearing it at nights.
