Sorry I have been MIA folks. My last wire change was on May 29 and that went okay with minimal pain / dull ache that was felt in my molars when I would bite down. Luckily, that only lasted a week. Other than that, it seems that I have been using more wax than I used in the first 2 weeks and thought my mouth would be used to the braces. But, I chalk that up to the fact that the teeth are moving even if I cannot see it.

Earlier today I went in for a wire change and got a stronger wire and am still in the "leveling" phase. I guess I should be grateful because then comes the super duper wires from what I understand. So far, it's more of a dull ache and I can actually bite down on the molars without the sensitivity I felt the last time.

I am wondering if I will ever stop using the wax ....

Great that your progress is going well!

The early wires are the ones that do the most work, as they get the alignment sorted. The later wires are more for specific jobs, and although they may look mean, mostly they don't cause issues, as a persons teeth are well used to movement by then. What does seem to affect comfort more in the later stages is the detailing work that's done, that's when bends are put in the wires to achieve a specific type of movement ... but like all thing orthodontic ... we adjust!

Maybe you're using more wax due to your hydration not being as good as it should be, or your teeth may have moved to different places, causing other areas of your mouth to feel chaffed. Best to keep with the wax and increase your fluid intake. Hopefully your mouth will feel great soon and you'll be able to leave the wax for a while.

    Good luck!

Sunny I cannot wait for this to be over :-) I know that each person is different as far as time spent "moving" / "leveling" the teeth/roots but I cannot wait to get this babies off and I have only had them on 8 weeks. :-)

The sensitivity (especially in the molars) is nowhere near what it was before so for that I am extremely happy. I do have a difficult time with getting the floss between the back molars. By the time I am done, my mouth/lips/jaws will need plastic surgery from the stretching I have done to get the floss in.

You are probably correct in saying that I need to really hydrate better/more. I also feel that the teeth have moved a bit even if I cannot see it but I can sure feel the brackets rubbing differently against the inside of my mouth. I have increased my fluid intake.

Thanks again for your input / positive reinforcement. I need it.

In the early weeks/months, it can be a lot harder than it is in the later ones, as your mouth is still adjusting and if you have a lot of sensitivity, this discomfort would surely make this a more daunting experience.

All I can really say is focus ... focus on why you're doing this, focus on how you want your teeth to look, focus on how you're going to feel when you do have a naked mouth again!

Hopefully you'll soon find that you have periods of time where where you forget you have braces ... and that these periods of time will become longer and longer.

Keep well hydrated and it's wise to carry water with you everywhere, so you can always have a sip for hydration and cleaning purposes.

Good luck ... and keep focused!
