Back to the drawing board

I am experiencing sensitivity when I actually bite down on something but I guess I am back to the drawing board. I can only assume that this is the feeling I will have each time the wires are changed/adjusted. I tried biting into some very very soft bread last night and it was not fun. The sensitivity while momentary, reminded me that it only 36 hours since I had the wires changed. I guess I am impatient. But I say I'm trying to get back to normal eating as soon as possible as Sunny has advised me to do.

The flossing of my molars is difficult to maneuver now that they have been wired but I am sure as I go along it will get easier.

I just hope that I don't break any more brackets and that the sensitivity goes away soon.

I told my ortho that after I am done with the treatment plan, I will need therapy for the paranoia I am developing about cavaties / decalcification and I will need a plastic surgeon to put my lips back to their normal size after stretching them so much when I have to floss. Now he thinks I am a stand up comedian.

Good luck with your mouth feeling better very soon. Depending on what the new archwire is doing, some people do find they have some sensitivity for a short time after a wire change, but usually this is something that doesn't last long. Hope you can eat well again very soon!

I hope your ortho and his staff had a good laugh when you told him about your paranoia about your lips being stretched. I've heard that one in our office, but the tragic part, was the patient wasn't joking. I was given the job to counsellor her and explain his lips were exactly the same as the photos we'd taken a few months earlier at her planning appointment.

I'm sure your ortho is thrilled your keeping your oral hygiene A1 so as not to risk damage to your teeth ... just be careful that you don't brush after eating or drinking foods with acid and never brush your teeth or gums with anything but a soft headed tooth brush.

    Good luck!

Ah Phoenix, back to the tender-itis I see?!! I am expecting the same after my 1st wire change next week. Go easy though, 36 hours is not long at all, I am sure you will be back to eating firmer things soon.Just think of all that movement!!
Thanks to advice sourced here on the forum I am a wizz at the molar flossing! Get a stiff ended floss then you can thread it under, or over the wire and get down to the gum. Practice makes perrrrrfect! xx

Sunny - as always many thanks for the encouragement.

    Bunny - "tenderitis" it is.
