Clenching

Okay so I have been doing well without the wax and am down to just one or two spots. I cannot believe I am actually saying that.

My latest thing is I realize that I am clenching my teeth when I sleep. Does this make sense?

I never did this before I had the braces; or maybe I didn't realize I was doing it but I don't recall doing it. I don't have any kind of pain or discomfort in my jaws when I wake up but I realize that I am doing it because I feel it.

Anyway, I called my ortho's office today and they told me that this is normal when the bite is readjusting.

lemon tree - I was beginning to think I was losing my mind (which is entirely possible in my case). At least I know I am not alone - thanks for chiming in.

I think this is part of the process ... annoying, but very common.

Good luck with your mouth continuing to do so well!

oh yep, I turned into a clencher also...I think I did it before too, but has become worse with having braces. I have periods of time where I don't and I assume this is due to the changing bite. I asked my ortho if I was messing things up and he said no, hang in there...if it continues to get worse then he would recomend a night guard. He says that as my bite becomes more correct, the clenching should lessen. I can tell from an achey jaw in the morning, and I catch myself doing it all the time and have to remind myself to loosed up!---know exactly how you feel!

Sunny & CandyMomof3 - whew - it's nice to know I'm "normal" and not alone in the process. Thanks for chiming in.
