I'm really pleased with the bonded retainer, alot of people complain that they are hard to keep clean and break easy, but I have had no problems, flossing's easier now then when my teeth were crooked I did have some concerns whether they would stay in place as the bonded retainer is only along the front 6 teeth bottom and 4 teeth top. But they seem to be staying in place, so hopefully they'll stay that way. I have to go for a check up in 6 months time. I'm keeping the retainer on for as long as they let me. It's much easier then remember to put one in.

    Big thanks again xxxx

I'm faaar from any retainers, but are they uncomfortable? I can't wait to get to that stage, but I'm not keen on having stuff on the back of my teeth. And the important question: can you eat popcorn with a bonded retainer? Any time I smell fresh popcorn, I keep counting down the days.

But glad to hear you've earned your retainers!

    Hey Kid Robot

The retainers are so comfortable I don't even realise their there most of the time. They felt quite strange when they were first put on, but I adjusted after just a few days. If you run your tongue along them the teeth feel rough, but it doesn't cut your tongue at all. I was very worried myself when they suggested these type of retainers as I didn't want the same hassles as I did wearing a brace, but I've had no problems.

I've had no problems with eating anything, my teeth were quite sore when the brace was taken off, but after a couple of weeks there is no foods that I avoid. Some people complain of the wire breaking, but the wire is well glued on, and is near the gum, so I don't think it could break that easily, I've munched my way through many a crusty rolls, apples, chewey bars, etc and no problems.

The main benefit for me is that I don't have to worry about putting a retainer in, as I know I would get lazy with doing this. My boyfriend was in braces for 4 years and he only wore his retainer for a couple of months and this caused some of the teeth to move. The only thing I would say is to make sure if you do go with this sort of retainer you floss well as sometimes food can get stuck, but to be honest I don't find flossing any harder then before I had braces.

Hope that helps you a bit an goodluck with the rest of your braces journey
