The pain only lasted a few days, I still have a slight feeling of pressure on the front teeth, but I can only see this as being a good thing, as it shows they must be doing something.

I can eat with the elastics on and have only taken them out to brush my teeth and to change the bands over. However I am finding that everything I eat is getting alot more stuck in between the brackets which is quite annoying.

I'm only a week in and the teeth must have moved as on the top and bottom the archwire is sticking out at the back like it would just before the next adjustment and it's making the back of my mouth really sore. It's jabbing me more when I eat and speak and is really getting on my nerves now. Also my tongue seems to be getting caught on the tiny gaps between my bottom teeth and I have some lovely ulcers on it now, so thats really sore too So in all I'm not doing too well. I keep feeling like giving up but know I'm nearing the end and it will be worth it when its done.

If the archwire moves much more I think I will have to phone the ortho and see if they can fit me in just to snip it off. I work talking on the phones all day and its very uncomfortable.

However on a brighter note I have coped better than I thought I would and I've been christmas shopping today so definately getting into the christmas spirit now

A poking wire is usually a good indication that spaces between the teeth have closed, unless it was left long at your visit, or if the wire has slid from one side to another.

There's nothing wrong with going in to have it clipped if it is bothering you. Orthodontic treatment shouldn't have to be so uncomfortable.

Keep up with the elastics .

    Thanku

I have had a look to see if it may have slid but it seems to be equal amounts on both sides at the bottom and top. I can't remember whether they did or didn't trim them now you come to mention it, maybe they forgot this time.

It doesn't seem to be bothering me that much today, think my mouth has got use to it so I'll see how I go

PB if the wire is causing you problems, give your ortho's office a call. It's usually a very short visit to get the archwire clipped. This is a great sign for the movement of your teeth!

Rinse with warm salt water 3+ times a day to help heal and soothe your tongue!

    Good luck!
