Had my first adjustment the other day. It wasn't that bad, my teeth felt like they were being tightened together. But they are ok now. I asked my dentist if she could see if my teeth had moved, she said they've moved a little but I would really see the movement after about three months. So I'll see what they're like in two months time! I really should be taking pictures :-s
I have crowded teeth and im very self concious, im only 17 and i really hate smilling in photos with my mouth open. They're obviously not the cheapest things to get but i would love to know places where its affordable and will get the job done! Help?
I had an adjustment yesterday and although my orthodontist told me twice that my he would be closing the large gap this visit, he did not. I can't understand how things change from one visit to the next and nothing is explained to me. Frustrating! My tooth didn't have much movement last month but I'm hoping it will this month.
When I began thinking about getting braces in earnest I scoured the internet for information and discovered YouTube has tons of braces related material. Alas, a lot of the uploads are from mere Tots (people under 20) and it just feels WRONG looking at anything posted by a teen. Frankly at my age anyone under 30 is suspiciously young. One of the kookiest yet ultimately charming videos I came across on YouTube was by Harol on his channel, Harolemons. I present his "I ...
I had my braces put on tues 10th Jan. The first day was as though they were tricking me. There was no pain or discomfort and I was telling everyone how great they were. Approx 6hrs later they showed there true colours! Downing painkillers and eating cold jelly helped take the swelling down but it was still uncomfortable. The braces themselves weren't bad, there was no rubbing on my gums and my teeth weren't sensitive so I researched potential problems and realised my gums were swollen and my teeth ...
I have only had my first adjustment since the 4th, but I am noticing 3 of my canines moving (there's gaps!), it is the 4th canine that I am most worried about. I am anxious to find out if it's actually going to move, or if it's ankylosed (fused to the bone). The canine is not in the wire with the rest of the teeth, it's just got a band attached to it. jan10.jpg I am not sure this band is even going to move this thing. Anyone know ...
Its my second day with the trays, semi getting used to them. The bottom tray doesn't bother me much at all the top one makes me gag. Sleeping with these on is really an adjustment, I'm a clencher and I can't clench with the trays. I guess its good for me but I miss sound sleep. I'll go back today to get the button that fell off replaced. IT's the tooth that will have the most movement throughout so I'm sure I need to get it replaced ASAP!
So nothing new has happened. Met with surgeon yesterday got everything done measurment wise date is April 4th wish me luck
I received my second set of 3 pairs of aligners yesterday. I also had a very small IPR (space made in between teeth) done which literally took no more than 60 seconds and NO pain at all. Nice! I asked to see my Clin-Check to see when I would start to see major progress in the movement of my teeth. It looks like that won't be until tray 10, 16, and beyond. It looks like most of the major movement will take place from the middle of treatment through the end. That was ...
Today I picked up the trays and had my buttons put in (12). More than I expected but I was happy with the amount of trays that are anticipated - 19. Hopefully it won't drag on too much more than that. Closing the gap is the biggest factor. Went to my appointment during lunch break so I didn't want to come back to work wearing them and trying to get comfortable...so I'll go home have dinner and start getting used to them. They're supposed to settle in better overnight.
A New Year - so, New Teeth? No, not yet. Those of you that are regular readers of my blog ("hi Mum!") will know of the story of the last 9 months. Basically, in a sentence, I have been wearing a bite plate for over 6 months to help correct an overbite yet there has been little progress. I say it's my age - 51. However, when I went for my appointment yesterday, my orthodontist said it WASN'T necessarily due to my age which felt nice to hear. perhaps my youthful ...
I went last Thursday and got my top braces put on. Let's start with the bad news first...my orthodontist put the wrong brackets on me! I specifically asked for the Radiance brackets and they put the Clarity brackets on. (I attached a picture so you can see the difference between the brackets) It wouldn't bother me that much if I hadn't spent the last month doing TONS of research on all my options. I mean if they were going to put what they wanted on me anyways, I would't have wasted my time. I didn't ...
Hey all! I just wanted to post some pictures of how my teeth look at the very beginning of treatment. I have damon clear on the top front six teeth and regular metal damon brackets on the rest. Let me know if there are any other angles or pictures that you would like to see. 2012-01-09 10-53-02.218.jpg2012-01-09 10-34-32.542.jpg2012-01-09 10-33-38.480.jpg2012-01-09 10-30-57.857.jpg2012-01-09 10-30-21.130.jpg2012-01-09 10-27-34.093.jpg2012-01-09 10-20-06.874.jpg2012-01-09 09-58-49.322.jpg2012-01-09 09-57-10.190.jpg2012-01-09 10-42-19.818.jpg ...
10/4/11- Getting Invisalign Soon! I have been wanting braces for a long time and have finally decided to go through with it. My consultation appointment is on 10/11. 10/17/11- So I went for my first consultation last Tuesday. I went to my old dentist who does Invisalign since I was familiar with him...let's just say I now know why he's my OLD dentist. He was very short with me and when I had one of his staff members ask how many cases he's treated he wouldn't answer and just told ...
So, regardless of varying opinions from friends and family about whether I should start treatment so soon or without getting multiple doctor's opinions or treatment options...I trusted my gut and started my treatment on the 4th, last Wed. So, last week I drove to the ortho office, slapped my down payment on the counter and they escorted me to the back. My ortho office has an "adult" room which I assumed is where I would be, but I wasn't. I was placed in a chair in the ...
