Not really much to say right now. I've got my next appointment on Dec. 20 and I'm looking forward to it. I'm hoping that after one more power chain, this gap will be closed. For now though my main focus is getting over being sick. I've relapsed with mono so until I get well, I can't go back to the ortho anyway. I've also uploaded pictures that were taken in late July/early Aug. when I got my second braces. I'll try to get some current ones taken soon and post them. I can' believe ...
Not too much to report. Still waiting for some of the gaps to close, but I noticed they are closing slowly. I've been doing a lot of fishing (for anyone who cares) and working. My next adjustment appointment isn't until Jan 2011. Here are some pics: IMG_0280.jpg week15.jpg Taken Today: IMG_0326.jpg
I had my third adjustment appointment this past Monday. It went well, and my ortho was very pleased with my progress (I think he actually said that my case might be the fastest movement he's ever seen) My bite has been getting better and better, thanks to these little pink rubber bands, and I'm *almost* edge to edge! I'm still wearing the bands, but under strict instruction to stop wearing them if my top teeth move inward too much. I also got my last four brackets put ...
Hi can anyone comment on what type of braces would be the safest for wearing with an existing crown? I have a crown on my front tooth, it has been there for over 20 years and I don't want any problems with it. What would be the safest braces? It seems that Invisilign may cause too much pressure, taking on and off? Would traditional braces be better? Thanks so much

Hello everyone! So three orthodontic consultations, periodontal root planing and cleaning (ul, ll, ur, lr), filling of five cavities, lots of novacaine shots and lots of money later, I am fully braced its been a month and 3 days and I must say i am happy with my decision yet bummed it took me so long to get it over with! My first month The appointment to put on my braces went by really quick and after doing root planing and filling cavities, ...
Now that I've got your attention. Things aren't SO bad I suppose. I've been dying to use that Frank Zappa reference (Google the phrase you'll see the album cover) which pretty much sums ups how the inside of my cheeks feel at times. Let me explain. I've posted a few questions in the Dental Do-dads part of Archwired recently and had zero replies. Sigh. I thought they were solid queries, especially the one about proxa brushes (they do a great job but seem rough!) I may have gone a ...

So I thought I would post an update, 5 days in. The aching/soreness of my teeth seems to have eased up in the past couple of days, my teeth are no longer hurting/aching when I wake up in the morning. I have now started to eat a bit more solid food (only a bit though), but although my teeth are no longer hurting 'constantly' (yay, I don't need pain killers anymore!), they do still hurt a little while chewing, but nothing like compared to before. I am still unable to chew properly though, and that's ...

Hello and welcome to my journey in adult orthodontics! I first found out that I needed braces in early 2007. For the past three years I have mastered orthodontic procrastination (ie. doing anything BUT starting my orthodontic work!). Imagine, if I'd started back then, it might all be over by now! Anyway, my story begins where many do - thumbsucking! Followed by some over-zealous dental extracting in my junior years, leaving me with gaps and an overbite. My treatment plan was finalised about ...
So on Wednesday it will be three weeks since I've had my upper linguals applied, and Im getting a little discouraged. Most of the pain has gone away, its easier to eat, and my tongue is okay...but talking is still an issue. It seems like its impossible to talk normally; I have to consciously think about how to form and move my tongue and which words to use and it still seems like I have a bit of a lisp. I hate having to worry about talking, especially words with s's. I dont feel like myself much ...
Can i still cheer with my braces on?
So, I'm on month two now, and barely notice that I have braces most of the time. Except the flossing part, but I've cut the time down considerably, so it only takes a few extra moments compared to before I had braces. I can't wait til I see the finished result!! I already notice a huge difference in my bite, and when looking at the comparison pics, I can for sure see some movement. Of course I'd love for them to move quicker, but evidently if they move too quickly it ruins the roots of your teeth, ...
Here I am in week 2 of my braces journey and you can tell that there was a little bit of movement with my lateral incisors! They've moved back a a little bit and look a lot straighter. I can't wait to see how they will look in two more weeks! Day 1 Week 2 ...
Hey Yall is there any way i can prepare for getting my braces on? also if you have any tips on colors it wud b greatly apreciated
Well my upper braces were fitted on Thursday, all went fine and I had no problems. I have all metal with Purple ligatures, but my central incisors, left lateral incisor and 1st molars have wire ties rather than ligatures. I started to experience some discomfort about 9 hours after they were fitted and it's been pretty much constant ever since, apart from when I have taken some pain medication. My back teeth don't meet, but I don't have any build ups/bite turbos, so ...
