So earlier today I had my first consultation for a fixed brace. Firstly, I just want to say... I will definitely be having another consultation with another Orthodontist . My consultation went ok. I made a short list of questions I'd like to ask, but he answered most of them before I even got to ask, so that was good. No molds or x-rays were taken at this consultation (they would be taken at next appointment if I went ahead with treatment), but he did look in my mouth/around ...

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been really busy these past couple of weekends between hosting and attending bridal showers, helping with a friend's wedding, and starting a new job. This is supervain but I'm really glad that my teeth are so much straighter now and I feel pretty comfortable (despite all the attachments) smiling widely whenever I meet someone for the first time. First impressions are important and I think mine is much warmer and more pleasant now thanks to invisalign. ...

My adjustment was yesterday evening at 5:30. I had no clue what to expect for my 1st adjustment. One of the assistants took a look at my teeth and asked if it was my 1st one and she proceeded to take off the clear ligatures that I had and the wires. She asked me what color I wanted and I told her whatever wouldn't be noticeable for my metal brackets would be fine; I got silver and they blend in perfectly. After a few minutes the orthodontist came over and looked at my teeth and was telling the ...
So my first consultation is tomorrow (Thursday 12th August)... and I am feeling quite nervous!? . Thinking about it, I'm not really sure what part I am nervous about... but that might be because I haven't a clue what happens at a 'normal' consultation. The Ortho I am seeing tomorrow is at a practice that my Dentist refers all his patients to when they need a brace (adults and children). This Orthodontic practice ...
So, everything was going great until today at work, I bit down onto a mint on the right side and one of my brackets came right off. My wires don't go right to the back of my teeth just yet so now I have a bracket hanging off a piece of wire, and there's like a stopper on the end of the wire so the bracket won't come off. Can't say I was expecting something like this to happen so I don't really know what to do, so I guess I'll just leave it. There's nothing I can do as it's almost ...
Well, I had my braces on a few days before I noticed a loose bracket. Called my ortho and got an appointment right away.. They had me in and out in about 10 minutes and back in business. Def not in as much pain as the first few days and eating pretty normally again. I'll tell you what, when you have a great doctor and staff, the process can be enjoyable
So, it's officially happening! I have made my braces appointments! August 17th I'll be getting my spacers put in to separate my molars (ouch) and then on the 19th I'll be going back for the actual braces. I'm so grateful that I only have to wear the spacers for a couple of days. I know they can be killer, and some people have to wear them for longer! Everything is pretty surreal right now. I don't think it's going to hit me until I actually have brackets bonded to my ...
Thought id write alittle update.... not that anything has changed I still can't speak properly and im pretty sure nothing has moved. Although I am eating normal foods again, just avoiding chewy foods. The teeth that my retainer is meant to be moving back havent moved at all yet. My dentist asked me if I have been turning my retainer but my ortho never told me too or gave me anything to turn it with... Im alittle worried now... Anyway thats about it really. ...
Hi everyone, I went my "who knows what" number appointment...maybe 13th? and they did my xrays--everything looks great, all the roots are lined up and straight...they took off my power chain, top and bottom, and just did regular ligs after he made a slight bend to both wires. I am returning in 3 weeks to check/fix for any gaps that may open up with losing the power chain (sniff, miss it already..they are achey right now) and then a week after that----these babies are coming OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...
Hey everyone. I haven't posted in a little while because all has been well with my braces. I've been eating any and everything. I had steak for dinner last night. all of that will probably change tomorrow. I have my 1st adjustment tomorrow at 5:30pm and I'm so excited. I'm very familiar with the ritual from reading posts so I will take medicine an hour before I go and I'm prepared to eat soft foods all over again. I'm a pasta person so I won't mind at all. I just hope that it won't ...
My next adjustment is a week from today and I'm excited. I'll go in that morning and have my wires taken out. Then I'll go to the dentist and get my teeth cleaned. After that, I'll go back to the ortho and get my missing bracket put on and wires put back in. I'm having a little bit of pain with my bands rubbing bad sores on my tongue so I'm planning on asking to have the 3 bad ones fixed. I called them this morning so they know about it. They said that if my tongue gets cut and starts bleeding, ...
Hi, My dentist told me that I'll be getting my attachments this coming Friday along w the 2nd trays. She also said that depending on week's two progress, I'd change the trays every 10 days instead of 14. Is this ok to do? would that move my teeth too fast? not to mention the pain!! Has anyone else been able to switch trays in 10 days? Thanks!! C
As I was trying to get a piece of something (who knows what) out of my band this evening, I noticed that the ortho's assistant put one of those "stops" right next to my upper canine that is supposed to be moving. I know these things are put there to prevent the wire from shifting around too much (I also have one between my upper and lower central incisors). My question is: Will this "stop" thing prevent my tooth from moving? I would hate to waste a month and have ...

Well, I just had my first non-eventful adjustment today. No change to the top at all, except to replace my clear ligs. I don't think the others stained at all in the 3 weeks I had them. New wire on the bottom - .018 x .025. I have no idea what that is, but the assistant said, "Movin' on up!" I also asked him if he could file down a pointy edge I had on one of my bottom central incisors. It was very sharp and pointed up very noticeably. He said he could round it out, ...
Just got back from my first checkup since starting Invisalign. My dentist wants to see me before every other tray, so I get a new tray at my appointment plus my next set of trays to take home with me. It's fun to rip into the next package to see the progress I'll be making... helps keep me motivated! So far so good, but I'm a little nervous to get my first IPR before tray #5.
