Just a quick update...I spoke with my orthodontist this morning. When I go in to get my bottom braces on 2/9 he will remove the top ones and replace them with the radiance brackets which are what I asked for in the first place. He said the removal of the brackets is a pretty unpleasant experience but he'll change them if that's what I want. I think I'll go through that so I don't have to go through the next year and a half wishing I had the other brackets. Is getting ceramic brackets taken off that bad???

I have Damon clear braces now, but also had full ceramic braces about 10 years ago. Getting the brackets off was definitely the worst part of the entire treatment process. It is very uncomfortable, the ceramic brackets have a tendency to shatter or break when they pop them off, so, it can be messy. Once the brackets are off and they sand down the glue that is still on the teeth, to me, this part is painful. It kinda feels like having your tooth drilled without Novocaine, but they do it on every tooth! I don't mean to scare you, this is just my experience.

Yeah dude, it blows. I don't have ceramics but I imagine removing brackets is probably pretty similar across the board. First they pop off each bracket by literally grabbing it with some pliers and prying it off (um, OW). Then the sanding... I agree with sehick this is the worst part and also it takes a while. If you see smoke rising from your teeth, don't be alarmed. Seriously. It is a very weird experience that was hard for me to tolerate for just 2 teeth let alone ALL of them!! I'm not trying to scare you, but I kind of am a little lol. No one prepared me for it and it really sucked. So just go in there knowing it's gonna suck and maybe it'll be a little better for you
