9th trays

so i started my 9th trays this past thursday. i feel like these trays were tighter than my previous ones because my front incisors are being pulled back. ramadan started on saturday and for those of you that are not familiar with ramadan. its a holy month during which musims fast from dawn to dusk...basically you cant eat/drink anything for however long that period is. for me, it's about 15 hours. we eat before sunrise, so i try to eat a good bfast and drink lots of water to stay dehydrated. but those of you with invisalign know how dry your mouth can get with invisalign. but i guess that's part of the challenge.

so i thought once ramadan starts i'll keep my trays in for longer than i have been cuz i usually eat multiple times a day, several meals/snacks. and although it's only the 4th day, yesterday was the only semi-normal one. the first day of fasting i went to an iftaar (breaking fast dinner) where there was LOTS to eat and many people. i didnt feel like brushing my teeth right away so i had my trays out for about 2.5 hours for dinner and half an hour in the morning...meaning 3 hours. and then on sunday my family was hosting an iftaar dinner and my best friend was over and we were taking pictures so i had my trays out for 3 hours for dinner and another half hour in the am. BAD BAD BAD. yesterday though, i only had them out for like 1:15 min cuz i had class.

in other news...i feel like i'm finally starting to get used to my smile with my teeth. i discussed in a previous post how i never smile with my teeth but have been trying to get more comfortable with it. good news is i'll be on my 14/17 uppers and 14/16 lowers on my bday :-D.

    Your teeth are looking great!

I lived in Fiji for a few years and quite a few of the people who worked for us were Muslim, so the festival of Ramadan became quite familiar. I'd never thought about the effect this has on people who're having ortho treatment ... and it's not a nice thought. I'm guessing for those with brackets and elastics, it could be more than a little difficult ... yuck in fact.

It's great that you're coping well and here's to that continuing!
