3rd Adjustment. Almost 5 months!

I had my third adjustment today and I wasn't as hopeful as I was last time. I didn't have to go in to get my wires shortened so I felt like my teeth hadn't made very much progress. I did notice that one of front teeth moved and is more in line with the rest so I did feel like there was some small progress there. I felt like all the progress was being made on my top teeth but no changes were happening to my bottom teeth.
My ortho put in new wires that he said were thicker and more square shaped, so I would definitely be seeing some more movement this time around. As soon as he put the top wires in, I immediately felt the tension. My bottom teeth feel the tension even more, which makes sense because those are the teeth that need the most movement to straighten out. I regret not eating right after my appointment as now my teeth are sore and it hurts to bite down on anything. It's almost like the first few days with braces!
I welcome the discomfort because I know that this means progress. Back to soft foods and taking ibuprofen for the next few days!
Oh, I forgot to mention that my ortho took some pictures of my teeth today and compared them to my teeth before I started treatment and the changes are better than I thought. That was a very encouraging way to end my appointment and I am confident there will be more changes by my next appointment in 6 weeks.
Thank you all for your encouragement and support. Thank you for also blogging about your experiences, it helps me remember that I am not alone in this. There are other people who can relate to what I am going through, even if my friends and co-workers can't![]()
