Well, I've been in braces for about 3 1/2 months now and when I woke up this morning, I noticed something amazing.

My cross bite is totally gone!!

I mean, it's perfect now. I haven't had bands or anything. I guess straightening my teeth was enough to allow my jaw to close correctly!
Now if I could only get rid of my open bite so I could close it all the way...
