I estimate I'm wearing them about nine hours during my 'awake' time, plus through the night. Night time wear is amazingly easy!

My favourite is still my bonded retainers and I'm so looking forward to the time when I can leave the removable retainers in my ensuite bathroom, so it's night time wear only!

I think I've used more salt in salt rinses than during my entire treatment! I have a row of mouth sores under my tongue from it rubbing on an inside edge on the lower retainer. I've smoothed the retainer, but these sores don't like spicy foods ... which I love ... or much else that I like. The warm salt water rinses make my mouth feel amazing ... but then I eat ... and ... well my mouth is sore again!

Shame the bonded retainers can't go all the way around the inside of my teeth!

After 5 years, 11 months and 2 days ... they're off!

At the end of work today it was my turn and I was really nervous. I was experiencing irrational thoughts, like maybe my teeth would fall out, that there'd be nasty stains ... but it was easy and great!

First one of my assistants bonded gold wires on the back of my upper six teeth and lower eight teeth. Next a quick turn with the pliers and out came the upper and lower brackets all attached to the archwire with powerchains and ligs still attached. I felt a little pressure on one tooth ... but apart from that it was fast and simple!

My teeth felt HUGE and smooth ... even though some bonding still needed removing. I wasn't looking forward to this, as I have a couple of sensitive areas, but my assistant was excellent and I asked her to use the 'old school' grinder to remove the bonding on those sensitive teeth ... the result ... no discomfort.

My tongue couldn't stop licking the front of my teeth ... they felt (and still feel) amazing!

Upper and lower moulds were then taken. These will be sent to he lab tomorrow and I should get my clear retainers on Friday or Monday. This is the bit I'm not looking forward to!

Next a stream of people in and out making appropriate 'happy' noises ... exciting ... I asked for a mirror ... and WOW! My teeth not only feel HUGE, they look HUGE ... and WOW ... they're all one colour and there's no sign that I ever had braces ... WOW ... totally blown away!

Photos coming!

The end is close and I should have naked teeth for this summer holiday. I was kinda worried about writing this, as it feels like I'm tempting fate ... but this time I know it's really going to happen. :clapping:

My x-ray show that the roots of my teeth are where they need to be and can't be moved any further in the jaw bone. My right side has a great bite, but my left side just isn't going to make it ... but I'm ok with that, as my jaw is feeling great and I'm happy to do my chewing on my right side!

My bite was never going to be even, as I have 7 teeth on my upper left and 6 on my upper right. Then on my lowers I have 6 teeth on the left and 7 on the right ... so no way that can match. I'm so excited that I no longer have a gap where my impacted canine is. I really started to think that gap would never close, but it did! :thumb:

Yahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Kia Kaha!!!
