These things are totally horrid! I managed to wear them - - 4 hours on Thursday - 19 hours (10 hr, 9 hr) on Friday - 19 hours (9 hr, 10 hr) on Saturday ... I'm not counting Thursday ... as that's when I got them, but Friday was a holiday and Saturday's the 'real' weekend ... so both days are short by 3 hours. I can't work out how I'm going to fit that extra 3 hours in ... plus if I decide to have a life (like go off my property) ... I'm not sure ...
Finally it was my turn to have 'chair time' on Thursday. After the usual umming and arring ... my ortho announced that my braces must come off soon ... they've been on far too long ... like this is news to me! Anyway he's unhappy that my bite is still open (which happened during treatment ... it was closed in the beginning) and that my upper teeth are so far to the right. He said without surgery these things (and a few others) cannot be corrected properly, but they need to be improved. ...
Here's a comparison collage of the past four years ... many changes ... events and non events! You'll need to click on the image to get a better idea of what's been happening. Here's to a naked photo taking the five year space!
My bite appears to be even more open, which is frustrating. My ortho assures me this is more of the 'it gets worse before it gets better' stuff ... The gap over my impacted canine continues to close ... slowly ... but it's closing
I've been slack taking photos, but here's the latest. Front Left and Right
My ortho is happy that my upper right gap, over the impacted canine is continuing to close. He's not so happy that my bite is still open and appears to be catching on a back molar, right side. Powerchains were removed and both archwires removed and more bends put in on the right side. New purple powerchains and I'm to continue with the same elastic configeration - Size 3/16". Left side - a triangle, from upper canine to lower ...
Frustrating ... I've been getting loads of progress on my upper right side. The frustrating part, is that I don't think my ortho was expecting movement to be this quick, and pressed the end of archwire between my first and second molars ... so today, the pressure of the 'bending' archwire got to be too much for the buccal molar bracket on my first molar ... and 'ping' ... it came off. I'm not going to work tomorrow as my hubby has a couple of important appointments with his oncology ...

My Ortho was happy as the gap over my impacted canine is showing signs of closing. Awesome news!!! He removed my ligs and archwires and made many bends in both the upper and lower archwires before putting them back in, taking them out, more bends ... repeat, repeat, repeat. He kept checking my bite, which is still open and only meets on the right - second molars. He's trying to get my bite to close, while also working to finishing closing the gap! Finally when he was ...

3 August 2008 Three years ... I'm pleased I wasn't told it would take this long when I first started treatment, as I'm not sure I'd have been happy to commit to that long. Here's hoping there won't be ...
