  1. extractions for braces change profile?

    by , 05-03-2012 at 12:49 PM
I’m getting braces. I was told by 2 ortho to have 4 bicuspids removed. I was told by 1 ortho just to remove the 2 upper bicuspids. I’ve been researching further and I hear a lot of horror stories about regrets and it changing their profile or having a ‘dished in/sunken’ look.

I was only looking to get my teeth straight as my front tooth is turned out, I wasn’t expecting extractions. I also have a strained look because I’m having to force my lips over my mouth, not much but enough ...

  2. Freaked out

Hello! So I REALLY need to start this blog because I don't think I can go through this otherwise! Reading the stories of others is so encouraging and makes me feel so much better about going through this... I know it had to be done, buy MY GOD is it painful or what! I've had braces before when I was 12 years old and nothing came out of it 'cause I moved countries and my parents were too scared to take FOUR of my teeth out to make the room in my mouth... 3. Seriously can't wait to get this process officially started.

Brackets have been on for a month, and teeth were pulled 3 weeks ago. Seriously cannot wait until Wednesday to get my official wires on and tightened. My teeth have been hitting each other constantly. I have been accidentally hitting my chin on things and consequently hitting my top teeth feeling like I knocked them loose. At night, I can't sleep because I am clenching my teeth together, resulting in sore front teeth because my 1st pre molars prevented this which are no longer there.

Well I've been waiting a month now for the braces thing to get started.

I first went to the ortho almost two months ago and physically signed all the paper work & put down my deposit about a month ago. Then I had to go find a normal dentist to do the extractions.

I've had to wait for an appointment with the dentist for the extractions...so the earliest I could get was a month from my initial dentist check-up. Although, this is partly my fault as because I'm a massive ...

  5. Day after extractions

    Attachment 50

I had two extractions yesterday both on my lower (no.5's) to make room for the teeth to straighten.

I've never had any extractions or surgery before so was quite apprehensive about it. I was heavily sedated (not put completely under) and can't remember a thing after the drip was put in my arm and they put sunglasses on me.

Next thing I know I was picked up off the dental chair and sat outside with a pulse monitor on my finger. It ...
