Hi All,

Well I wasn't due a blog update till at least next week but I've had a bit of a disaster with tray 28.......it's gone!.....away, bye bye, in the bin with the cat litter of all things, never to be seen again.......and this was a total mistake as I'm supposed to be wearing it for another week! Oops! Not even really sure what happened, I took it out and couldn't find either of my tray boxes so thought I'd be clever and put it in an empty pain killer box......which I then in a hurry threw out by accident yesterday morning clearing out my handbag as the cleansing were coming down the street! Argh! (It should have been in my mouth I know, monday morning blues, no idea what planet I was on!)

Anyways I'd no option to change to my final tray, number 29 straight away, a week early, its a little uncomfy but totally my own fault. Having had it in 24 hours now, I'm quite pleased with how the front view looks, the wonky one is well turned in, and maybe 97% perfect, I recon it could be a wee bit better but I'm not getting refinments so I'll see what Mr Ortho says and maybe have to live with it. What I'm not pleased with tho is there was a fair chunk of IPR done at my last visit, 2 weeks ago (to create the space to allow wonky tooth to turn in) in the past I've been able to tell that the next tray has closed these gaps straight away ......trays 28 nor 29 havent even moved the teeth where the gaps are (ok its side/back ones) and I can still stick my nail into these gaps. For the past 2 weeks the gaps have caught everything I've eaten and it looks like I'm going to be stuck with it now for life, very annoying even if you cant really see it much.

I've not got another ortho appointment till 8th October when I'm to get the attachments off and a retainer fitted. I think I'll have to give him a call before then to ask what to do, I'd go as far as to say I think I'd like track style braces for refinments to close the gaps up and get the front one 100% perfect. I get the feeling he'll not agree tho and say everything is perfect already and not to worry about gaps at the sides/back.

So do I call him now or wait till I've had this tray in at least a week or so???? I can't get to the office will the earliest 14th Sept anyway as I'm on holiday for the next 10 days.

Can't believe what's happened, I've done sooooo well until this last tray and now I'm not quite 100% pleased (as much as I was at tray 27) and I'm ahead of schedule by accident. Feel stupid and a wee bit down in the dumps today about it all. It's 0950 in the monring....is it too early for a "cheer me" up icecream?

I reckon the sooner you tell him the better. Plus explain that you want those gaps closed. They may become food traps, plus the allow for tooth movement in the future, so hopefully your ortho will understand your concern.

Good luck ... you're nearly there!

Thanks Sunny, I knew you'd know what to do. I'll give him a ring as soon as I'm back from holiday then this means tray 29 has been in 2 weeks and all the movement its going to do wil be done and settled as such. I totally understand what you mean about food traps or movement in the future, lets hope he sees it that way . Keep you posted. x

Ok, called the ortho today as per Sunny's advice now i'm back from holiday, and going in for a chat tomorrow. I'm still being annoyed by food sticking in these gaps everytime I eat so I'll see what he says. I defo think I've had too much IPR, so not sure what will happen - do the gaps get filled in again, is that possible or do I get tracks to close the gaps up?! who knows, will update you all tomorow after the appointment....I think I'll just be told I need to live with them, and stop moaning, if i go with a negative thought I'll not be dissapointed if thats's whats said, i'll prob cry.

Good luck Weeeyin and please try to get your ortho to listen to why you're so concerned about these gaps. If he should say you will have to live with them ... ask why? Sometimes gaps can't be closed and they need bonding put on one or both teeth, so that it's no longer obvious, but you need to make sure you're happy with the answer you're given and the reasons for it!

    Good luck!

thanks. I cant decide if the appointment went well or not?! He did listen about the gaps and the fact I've also major tooth ache (like sharp shooting pains into my brain at one back upper right molar nbr 6 apparently) when I chew but said theres no decay so prob just the tooth settling down so not to worry. Options for the gaps are -

Wear tray 29 for another month then see him again, if the gaps havent closed (which i know they wont, the tray isnt going to suddenly close them when it hasnt in 17 days so far) then he'll cut this tray so that it's only holding my front teeth straight to let the back molars relax into a natural position and see if the gaps close up themselves in a 2 week period. If they dont and i'm still not happy he'll give me train tracks for about a month to close it all together, now this was originally fine thinking I'd paid a total fortune for this treatment and would get ceramic white tracks which i could just about handle, oh no, it'd be metal ones unless I pay around another £20 each for the other brackets, for a month its not really worth it but I'm unsure given my job and age etc I could have metal brackets. I just dont know what to do now, I mean its IS only hopefully a month but its running into Christmas, lots of parties/ photos, work social events with clients, Its something I'm really going to have to sleep on and work out on the calendar see where it takes me to.

I am happy with the front as it looks great where the wonky one has turned in, thats the saving grace really. Must get back into positive thoughts....I will when i've thought about it all further, here's to a month of food being stuck . Whats your thoughts guys and girlies?

Hopefully the invisalign will have worked some magic by then and you won't need to think about brackets.

I've had both ceramic and metal brackets. The ceramic are often more easy to adjust to, due to the smoothness of the brackets and a slightly larger bracket means that pressure is distrubed easier in your mouth, which helps with short time adjusting. The metal brackets are also fine ... they don't worry me, but I'm nearly 52 ... maybe I'm passed worrying ... lol

I think ... let the invisalign work!
