What a relief, the normal dentist check up went fine, he was very surprised the invisalign had worked so well and thought the results given the fact I’d no refinements were great. He did comment “have you had whitening done?” which I’ve had a little, I only really did it for about a week or so after the attachments came off – maybe it really did make a difference after all 
Anyway the good news is 31 years and 8 months and never a filling yipeeeee! Little polish – no scaling (fabby news) and see you in 6 months Mr Dentist ! Delighted isn’t a big enough word!

Well hello everyone......I haven’t vanished off the face of the earth, just been really busy with work, life, everything really.....but I haven’t forgotten all my friends I’ve met on here.
Things with the new straight teeth have been fine since I finished treatment back In October. It did take several months and attempts to get a retainer I was happy with, I think I picked it up about December, ok I’m not 100% happy with it as it’s not as good as fit as my final tray, the top one isn’t as flush to my gum on the inner side of my front teeth and has a tendency to be caught by my tongue when I’m talking so it sort of falls out – at night its fine as I don’t talk in my sleep J The bottom one is ok, nothing special but seems to do the job. Needless to say I often use my final trays instead, they’re comfortable and I’m less conscious that it’ll fall out when I’m talking.
I would say I only wear the retainers at night, but I’m thinking I should really be wearing them probably much more to full time for a few months as I do notice the one tooth (that was the whole reason I chose to get treatment) starts to move of its own accord come bed time. It’s just a case of getting back into daytime wear is a bit of a hassle – but I can do it!!!
As for invisalign and weight loss – who are you kidding?!!! When I started January 2009 I was really hoping that sore teeth, constant brushing etc would help me loose a few lbs – NO! It did the opposite, I was gorging at meal times so I ended up putting a few lbs on at first – not amused! Hehe, anyways, warning folks....when you get the trays of and the attachments off and your teeth are no longer sore/tender for days on end, how much fun is it to scoff toffee and gums etc allllllll day long?! I’ve out on 7lbs since October, this was not part of the Invisalign deal – honestly, with a course of treatment they should throw in 6 months free WeighWatchers membership at the end. I’m sure i’ll get back to normal soon. Wish i’d gone the other way but never mind, I enjoyed all the food at the time.
Tonight I have my first proper/normal dentist appointment since finishing treatment (very nervous) – the first the dentist will have seen me since IPR etc, now in 31 years I’ve never had a filling so I’m hoping that this is the same and it’s just a little polish I’ll get away with. I know I had a little bit too much IPR done in 2 places :( so I’ve got teeny gaps that I’m very conscious of keeping clean and free of trapped food, I may investigate the filling of these in time if it’s an option as they’re still bugging me a bit, I just hope I don’t need any work due to decay.
I haven’t bothered carrying on with the whitening treatment, I feel that until I can wean myself off the irn bru I’m wasting my time,I’m doing that slowly as its torture in itself, hopefully by the summer I’ll be there and can have my first Hollywood smile on the beach – when I’ve lost my “invisalign belly” heheheheh.
Update you on the appointment tonight later ..........till then ......... Keep smiling folks! x

I'm so pleased its all over and i'm finished with my braces and as of tomorrow i'll be a retainer wearer...does that mean i change forum thread?! Aww i'll miss everyone you've all been my friends over the past year and some even though I've only had my trays since January I started the ortho visits in August last year. I'm delighted with how things have been finished. Ok i didnt like IPR and I felt maybe a smidge too much was done in 2 places.....but it's honestly nothing as you see in one pic I'm going to post, whats a bit of stuck bacon now and again?!

The light isnt too goo where i've taken these pictures so i'll maybe post new ones at a later stage - but it was dark when i got home tonight so take them at the window like normal. I'm so glad I have before and after pics so I'll try post them in this blog like it...if you dont mind.

OMG! is pretty much all I can say today.......I just got my attachments off, moulds done for retainers (that I'll pick up tomorrow) and thats me all finished with Invisalign. When I get over the shock of the last hour I'll update this properly with how the appointment went and new photos but it's BRILLIANT to feel smooth teeth again with no attachments, now I'm going to whiten at home, just a little bit but give me a hollywood smile boost! (might need hypnosis to get off the irn bru tho first lol) Tonights treat......sticky toffee or chewing gum! I've not had it since January and I can't wait! It's been an eventful 9-10 months and cost an arm and a leg..... So chuffed now!

Decided the teeny gaps wern't worth the hassle of tracks being fitted, i've got used to them, the painis dying down A LOT and i'm a smilie happy bunny!!! yeah!!!!:thumb:

Well its been a month tomorrow since I last had a moan and groan at the orthos office about the gaps that have never closed. I'm really happy with how the front looks so i'm kinda thinking I dont want metal tracks full stop so I'll just live with the gaps that the food gets stuck in all the time, I'm getting used to it and it's not such a bother anymore, I've always got a wee floss stick in my pocket to deal with it. Bit frightened tracks will muck up how nice the front looks and I dont think I want the bonded stuff to my teeth either - I can still feel where it was after one of the attachments was taken off and that disturbs me really as that was one of the reasons I didnt want tracks to start with, also that tooth wont really whiten either so having it on the front is a big no no I think for me. Oh the decisions, I know only I can make it too....it's such a hard one, I'm not sure what is for the best now?! My bite is fine, the front looks fine, the ache is virtually gone (top back right) just the gaps....are they really that bad or important?!

I have one more night to think about it.....it'll be a long one I know. Keep you all up to date tomorrow after I've made a decision.
