My smile has changed - hard to get used to.

Well folks I'm now on tray 24 of 29 uppers and finished the bottom 11 trays ago and wearing it at night as a retainer for now. As you'll see from my blog before I'm back my holidays (boohoo) anyways it's not been until now when I've got the photos back that I've noticed the change in my smile shape.....and it's taking some getting used to - not so much in a bad way but not a good way either which is a bit odd - it just doesnt look like "me" yet.

Last summer I'd not even though about braces and was smiling the way I always had (my little profile pic) whereas this year I'm so concious of not showing the invisalign (when I actually wore them) in the pictures and thinking about showing my teeth / normal smiling, my pictures look so false this year and the smile forced - almost like i'd not relaxed......all 200+ (yes I did take 500 pics in 2 weeks, i'm a snap-aholic) pics that I'm in are odd looking.

I dont regret starting the invisalign at all, I know my bite is better and the wonky tooth is beginning to look much much better - just wish I could relax in pictures like before and turn off how I feel about smiling just now, I never used to think about it and this year it was constantly on my mind - you'll prob not notice any difference but I do as I see myself everyday - the 2009 shape is better I'm sure tho.

I think your teeth and overall smile is looking great! I don't think you smile looks forced, but I do know what you mean as when I had braces off I def felt different, but it is for the best.

    congrats on almost being finished!

Thanks :-) I know I'll get used to just smiling and not thinking about it so much soon. Hope by Christmas and the party season I'll be complete and back to my smilie self.

I agree--smile looks great. I was a MAJOR camera avoider, if someone started taking pics, I would move aside...quickly! I remember when a coworker held up his phone and asked to take a pic so he could assign a pic to my phone number...I felt so awkward---ya'll know what I mean! BUT, since my teeth became straighter, I have been smiling for pics every chance I get!!! I still feel kind of awkward, a little forced to hold the smile, because I am also thinking about it...but what a relief to be able to be in pictures and not cringe horribly when you appear on someones Facebook page!!!LOL

Thanks. I think I was the opposite about smiling for the camera - until I started trays I was the first one making silly faces and on everyones facebook/bebo page grinning like a cheshire cat. Up until my mum started the "goofy" comments last summer I'd never even considered fixing my teeth really. So glad I have now and am almost finished the first set of trays, just praying that I'm not in tracks for the christmas parties coz thats whenIi'm at my silliest and everyone has the cameras out at work. (the dodgy hair extensions last year have taken over 6 months to be forgotten about, I cant cope with further wind ups this year) lol I'm so vain! heheheh (NOooooo did I just mention christmas? It's July!!!) Shoot me!
