Today I am RAGING!!!! I got IPR done between my two front teeth at the top which is not on the plan and according to the clincheck these teeth are not even due to move at all....needless to say I stopped him immediately and said "no" but he insists the binding between the teeth needs to be removed to allow them to move(why when in the clincheck they dont need to move at all?!). I'm at home looking in the mirror and am soooooo angry at this gap, and very very very upset as I liked the two front ones being near with no gap, I can't stand the very straight line gap this has created , it looked natural before and am really hoping it will close up over the next 13 trays - if it doesn't I've no idea what I'll do but coz of this today I wish I'd never started, kept the wonky ones and just left it all well alone - I suppose it could be filled in again?! I cant emphasise how annoyed I am just now. Has anyone had IPR done between teeth that are not scheduled to have it done according to their clinplan? I seem to have had an awful lot of IRP done in places where it is not listed as needing.
He's happy with the bottom arch, and wants to send me elsewhere for the retainer soon, I never got the attachments off - dreading it as I've very sensitive teeth at the bottom (corroded through all my fizzy drinks I suppose). Now wearing the bottom tray for only 12 hours a day (overnight) so thats good I guess. I could go on and on but I'm so blinkin' raging and have a stomach ulcer and high blood pressure I'm away for a chill pill!!! Have a nice weekend folks, no idea when I'll calm down...tray 29 when this is all over maybe?!

Weeeyin I'm sorry you're feeling so upset, but when you have an experienced ortho treating you, they should be making decisions to aid treatment, that the invisalign company, providing the aligners at the beginning of treatment, could not forsee.

I can't wait to have IPR between my front teeth, so that they can move together. At the moment, the bottom one quarter of my front teeth meets, but due to the shape of lower left tooth (it kinda flares near the bite surface), the other three quarters of my front teeth do not meet together properly.

Please chill and next time ask your ortho about how long before your front teeth will be meeting again.

Good luck and here's to your uppers progressing well and your lowers staying good!

    Hi Weeeyin,

I can understand your feelings, as it must have been very upsetting to have that done so unexpectedly. It sounds like the ortho should have been more thorough in his explanation about why the IPR needed to be done at this point and how it will affect your result. I would definitely ask him about it further at your next appointment, or even phone him sooner, since this is troubling you.

Hopefully the gap will close as the teeth continue to move more, but if any part of it still remains after you've finished your trays, they can likely fix it with refinements or bonding.

I'm slightly more calm today. I'm refusing any more IPR on the front teeth full stop, no discussion, I've a gap the size of the clyde tunnel to close. I've had a look at tray 19 and my wonky one is defo tucked in a good bit then , bring it on, that might cheer me up a bit.
Thanks for your kind words Sunny & Melody, in the back of my mind I know you're right, he's experienced and knows what he's doing I'm sure. Next appointment is 1 month away I'm sure I'll have relaxed by then. Better go, oven just pinged, breakfast time - fresh crusty bread yummmmm xx

Please phone your ortho and explain how you're feeling and why. You sound like you need loads of reassurance and it would be terrible to make yourself sick due to you being so upset.

    Please phone!
