Just a quick update that I'm on day 10 of my braces. The mouth is finally getting used to the wires and I'm not using as much wax as I was last week. I still bought 10 packages though, can't have enough of the stuff on hand!

Eating is still a bit difficult, I've found that with my top retainer my molars no longer touch. That leaves the front teeth to do all the chopping, and they are still a bit sore. I'm adapting by eating a lot of soups or using a knife and fork for harder foods, ...

Well I got the ceramic braces on yesterday 11/9/09, and the appointment went smoothly. I was surprised by the fact that I need to wear a top retainer 24x7, and am trying to learn to speak normally again.

For ligatures, my ortho recommended against the clear since I'm a smoker, which the tech had already put on the bottom row of teeth. I asked her to put silver on top, and I think the silvers are much less noticable than the clear on the bottom. I'll find out soon how easy these ...

No mid-life crisis here, just hoping to re-straighten my smile. Had braces 24 years ago, never got a bottom retainer and those teeth are back to their original positions now. Top teeth are crowded as my wisdom teeth came in in my 20s.

I'm looking forward to getting my braces on 11/9/09. I hope I don't regret it!
