Getting braces at 40

No mid-life crisis here, just hoping to re-straighten my smile. Had braces 24 years ago, never got a bottom retainer and those teeth are back to their original positions now. Top teeth are crowded as my wisdom teeth came in in my 20s.

I'm looking forward to getting my braces on 11/9/09. I hope I don't regret it!

    Hey

    Goodluck with your braces journey

Your never to old to get braces. I was so worried about what people might think when I got mine, but nobody takes any notice. Others who do, just say how brave I am

hi--congrats on making that big step!!! I never had braces, but I wished for them for many years. I am 32 now, and got mine on 10 months ago....there are good days and hard days but not once do I ever regret it! I smile more now than ever and I love it. My teeth have changed so much this year, and I never smile closed mouthed anymore (I can't anyway because of the braces-I look really silly if I do)..I love being able to attend my kids awards ceremonies and band concerts and sporting events and smiling HUGE at them...I used to restrain my smiles, even though the joy I was feeling inside was so big, my smile never revealed that. It's so amazing to put aside those years of feeling like that and starting over!!! Enjoy your journey!

I'd never had braces before ... and still haven't had a midlife crisis ... and I started my orthodontic treatment when I was 47 ... and it's all been excellent ... no pain, no problems eating ... in fact it's mostly been smooth sailing!

Hope it's as good for you!

I know I'm late to the party (saw your post about getting them already) but there are so many adults these days with braces. No midlife crisis needed for sure
