i'd leave it out for a day or 2 and get to your orthodtist immediately... the first 4-6 weeks are very crucial that you wear your retainers as 24/7.
My dad accidently threw out my retainer, and now the top wire is slightly bent.
when I put it in I have discomfort...
It happened last night and I was really scared if I should wear it or not... I didn't wear it last night... I put it in today for very small periods of time but I'm really waay too scared to put it in because I think it might mess up my teeth...
I got my braces off 2-3 weeks ago.
today is memorial day, ortho is not open.
I can't call them.
I have an appointment wednesday for my follow up (I missed the two week mark, it's a rescheduled appointment)
I don't know if I should wear my retainer or not.
and I'm going to have my dad call ortho tomorrow.
So my question to all you lovely people is... should I wear it or not??????
Definitely don't wear it Sunshyne, as you'd force your top teeth into the wrong positions. It's incredible that your top wire bent, due to your retainer being thrown out ... it must have had something heavy land on it, in just the right angle, coz those wires usually need special tools to bend them.
Give your ortho's office a call and explain what's happened and ask if they want to see you before your Wednesday appointment. Sometimes when people have their braces removed, they have to wait up to a week for their retainers to be made, so hopefully a couple more days won't affect the alignment of your teeth.
Good luck! :thumb:
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
