Glue/cement left on my teeth? :(

It's almost been a year since I got my braces off.

When I got them off my ortho scrapped some of the glue off (not a very good job) and told me to go to my dentist to get it cleaned and removed.

I went to my dentist immediately and she was like "WTH?! You still have glue, only you're orthodontist can take this off"

I went back for my check up and my told my ortho and she was like "really?" so she tried to scrape more off than she fist did. But I still have some left.

SOOOOOOOOOO, who is right? Can any regular dentist remove this? meaning I need a new dentist OR does my orthodontist just really really suck. (I say she sucks... but that's because I also hate her/him for other reasons).

It REALLY REALLY BUGS ME, that I STILL have glue left on my teeth, my back molar is practically blue on one side.

hmm.. usually the ortho is able to get off all the glue with a machine they use... I dont like the machine cause my teeth were senstive, but left no signs of the glue...

Your dentist is most likely right as they don't have this tool... go back to your ortho and demand it to be removed... otherwise find another ortho to help out...

HOw'd your teeth come out? any before/after pics?

    oya welcome tot he forum

too get the brackets off it is cake.. they just pop right off... but the glue that remains on the teeth is what the tool I am referring to does... it was really easy on all my teeth except a couple....

Just take a look at each tooth and make sure they got it all off.. because they are on the back of yoru teeth, i expect the senstivity not to be a real issue.

    Mine were on my front...

you should get some replies from fellow lingual braces peeps

I have glue left on my teeth too.... the ortho didn't bother to take it off and its been there for 5 years... its mainly on front teeth so its really noticeable. having invisalign treatment now and my new ortho has said he will take it off.. hopefully you'll be able to get your ortho to take it off

    Thanks for your replies.

I will go back to my ortho and complain, or ask the front desk if they have the machine. They got a new ortho, she has been the one working on me since one person left, and I often wonder if she knows what she is talking about.

I don't really have before and afters saved.... but I can try and find a couple pictures of my smile before/during/after.

My teeth weren't terrible before I got braces, just a little crowded and I suppose my bite was off but not completely noticble.

I doooo not like how my teeth cam out, I believe that something went wrong and they shouldn't have taken my braces off when they did. They are trying to correct my fangs with retainers....when they just could have fixed it before taking them off.

Plus, I didn't wear my retainer for a night or two on seperate occasions, and my bottom teeth shifted. So its really annoying. This was within the month my braces came off. I blame that on my self..... but find it weird that it could happen in like one night.

Both your ortho and your dentist can and should make sure all the bonding is removed. Where I work, we remove all the bonding, although sometimes a person experiences a lot of sensitivity and we recommend that when they see their dentist for a cleaning, they have the bonding removal process completed.

Teeth can move easily in the early months, but if your retainers still fit, they will move back to where they should be.

Good luck getting your bonding and teeth/bite sorted.
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
