I lost my retainer for 3~4 months.....and my teeth have shifted, do I need to do the braces again T^T...Plz help![]()
Mchow - If I were you, I'd visit my ortho to have her/him take a look and see what you need. Sometimes, minor movement can be done with Hawley retainers, but I am not really certain how effective a Hawley is for anything but minor adjustments.
I guess the moral of the story is that you need to have a professional take a look. Also, do remember that retainers have to be worn consistently forever if you want to avoid a relapse. So many adults in braces - myself included - are going through re-treatment because we didn't properly wear our retainers. I could just kick myself... but, that would do me no good, so I now wear my aligners EXACTLY as prescribed, and I will wear my retainers EXACTLY as prescribed!
Good luck!
I agree with PM ... you need to consult your ortho and hopefully any movement can be corrected easily and then you need to make sure you don't loose your retainers again.

After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
yes, go back to your ortho so he can take a look at how your teeth have shifted and maybe he can refit you for new retainers. It's really that important. If you have to pay for the retainers again, that's alot less than the cost of braces which would be a waste if your teeth continues to shift and move.
