I'm 54 and just got my invisalign off a couple of weeks ago.
I have a little bit of an underdeveloped chin and had what looked a little like buck front teeth with a bit of a gap on either side.
When I asked my dentist to give me a crown on a problem front tooth he suggested braces first.
So 18 months and 7,000.00 later my bottom inner lip skin tends to collapse over my bottom teeth and my top teeth tend to gouge into my bottom inner lip. So not only is it mildly painful it is also causing me to feel like I am constantly moving my face and lips around like I have a major facial tick or something. Add to that the fact that my bottom lip always feel painfully dry (never had this problem before) and I live in terror of being separated from my chapstick.
I'm not sure I can tell from looking at my face which has a heavy look anyway but it feels like I'm going without dentures.
I think he moved my bottom teeth back and tipped them in a bit so he had room to tip my front teeth down, while moving all the back top teeth up to close the gap.
And of course my bite is all jacked up too. My back teeth no longer meet though they say that will straighten itself out. The front teeth that do meet don't feel like they are meeting correctly. I was told that this would "settle out". ??????
7,000 dollars later and I'm pretty unhappy. My face wasn't one of those where my teeth showed when I smiled anyway. No one even sees them. But its a constant irritation and I DO NOT WANT to be one of those people your talking to and they are doing weird things with their face and teeth like denture suckers. Nor do I want to develop some big callous from my front teeth hitting my bottom inner lip.
I feel like I have all this extra lip flesh like a sharpei or something and I'm constantly adjusting.
I have no idea what they could possibly do now though. All I because I wanted a crown.

Giesela this doesn't sound good.
I recommend you return to your ortho and show her/him clearly what's bothering you and ask what can be done. If you're still unsure, you may be best to consult with another one or two ortho's to hear what they recommend.
Good luck!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
