I had somewhat of an overbite and have TMJ which is a disorder of the TMJ jaw joint and the braces are supposed to fix the pain from the TMJ but they are not working and the pain is no better than it was before I got them off. I have talked to another doctor and the solution for my jaw pain is to get cortisone shots in the sides of my face so I am going to do this as soon as possible.
I'm very uncomfortable having braces and I really want to get them off, I've had them on for about a month, I am wondering if I get them taken off now and get a retainer will my teeth stay in the position they are in now? Any advice is appreciated. |

I would definitely as a professional, which I am not. When I got my braces off, I went through the entire length that I was supposed to. I today do not wear a retainer and my teeth have not shifted that much. It may be because I went through the entire treatment. Now if you wear the retainer it may help, but I don't know if it will stay permanately.
