I'm really sorry this has happened. What happens when you put your hawley retainer in?
Hopefully your ortho can adjust your existing hawley. If not, ask about paying for new retainers by instalments. Good luck!
Hey guys, I've had my braces off for over a year and a half now.. I wear my hawley retainer religiously every night. About a month ago, my dog somehow got ahold of it and played with it a little (did not break it, but bent the wire a TINY bit). I made an appt with my ortho and she thought she adjusted it back to what it was, but it felt extremely tight in the front.. (like my teeth were being yanked out of place) but she said this was normal and it would go away. So I went with it and since then I have been bearing the initial pain when trying to fit it on every night.
Now, my boyfriend and I just got back from a 6 day trip to Vegas. The day we arrived there, I opened my retainer case about to put it on and noticed that a piece from the front plastic part had broken off, I don't know if this was during travel or if it was from being too tight.... but I'm scared to wear it. So I didn't wear my retainer for the 5 nights I was on vacation. I got home today and put my older daytime retainer on (clear & plastic: looks like invisalign) and it doesn't fit properly; theres space at the bottom; teeth dont fit all the way in... I could fit it before I left. Do some peoples teeth move within a couple days of not wearing a retainer even after having braces off for almost 2 years?
I'm going to make an appt asap with my ortho but I'm rather worried because it's past the 'warranty' time for replacing the retainer, and I know how pricey they can get. Will my teeth slowly adjust and fit into the plastic one for temporary use until I can see the ortho?Or will orthodontists sometimes replace damaged retainers??
Thank you!!

After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
When I put it on, the plastic part that usually touches the back of your front teeth, is the chunk that broke off somehow. So basically the wire is pressing very hard on the front of my teeth but there's no plastic piece in the back. So I'm scared of that pushing my teeth backwards!
