front two teeth bonded and a removable retainer?

I had a fixed upper retainer fitted and its so uncomfortable, my teeth clash all the time. I went to see a different ortho today and he said I could have braces (again) to push the lower teeth down, I flatly refused!!!

We are going to keep the two front teeth bonded and have a removable retainer (the plastic kind). Is this okay?

I'm a bit miffed at my old ortho for putting this bonded retainer, there clearly isn't a big enough gap between my top and bottom teeth. I have an appointment with him Monday but I think i'll cancel, all he'll do is take it of 2 teeth (its currently on 6) then I won't be a retained.

Any thoughts?

Interesting, because there should be enough room for a bonded retainer and your teeth shouldn't bite anywhere near them.

A removable retainer will still do a great job, just make sure you wear it nightly for life and a little longer if your teeth have moved. The advantages of the fixed retainer is that it's retaining all the time, but you still need to wear a removable retainer a couple of times a week to ensure that the rest of your teeth (those not connected to the bonded retainer) don't move.
