    Retainers

    eh guys!

    One question about retainers, (i mean, ortho answer always are reassuring,

    but real advice for people that are actually wearing retainers are always better advises to me!

    Does my theet can move even f Im wearing a retainer? I mean, I have to wear it at night only, but its always super hard to put it back before bed and seems my theet are not super straight like the first day...

    I asked my ortho to have permanent wire instead of these retainers, but he told me the one I have are better...But with permenant one im sure there is NO risks at all my theet move...

    Thanks for your answers!

    Do you mean your teeth moving? If so, as long as your retainer has not been damaged or stretched in any way, then it will keep your teeth in the right place.

    Your teeth may move a little during the day, especially if you're chewing hard foods, but then the retainer does it's job and makes sure that everything is kept right while you sleep.

    There is no such thing as a permanent retainer! Bonded retainers are the ones that are bonded begin two, three, four, five, six, seven or eight teeth, on one or both arches. These arches do keep those teeth retained, as long as they stay bonded. Some ortho's don't use them and other's will only use them on patients with A1 oral hygiene. They have been shown to provide the best retaining, due to them working 24 hours a day. Removable retainers are still needed at night, as they retain the majority of teeth ... all those that aren't bonded to the fixed retainers.

    Good luck with wearing your retainer for life!
    After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

    Hi Sunny,

    What exactly is A1 oral hygeine?
    Braces as 13 year old on NHS - put the retainers in a tissue at lunch time....lost em

    Braces as an 18 year old (still with NHS) - idiot ortho didnt finish the treatment and fobbed me off.

    Invisalign as 27 year old via private treatment + teeth whitening + fixed retainers = perfect smile...for a while. Lingual, fixed retainers eventually turned into a nightmare. Reinvisaligning myself before going to Vivera retainers. Relieved to get rid of those horrendous fixed retainers....

    A1 = extremely high ... a level above A ... which is top quality.
