Clear braces serve as a cosmetic alternative to traditional metal braces by blending in more with the natural colour of the teeth or having a less conspicuous or hidden appearance.
Hello!
I got my braces on a year ago. Throughout the past year I've been coming into the office in between my scheduled appointments (I'm friends with my technician) and she has really sped things along for me. I was in elastics from March-September. He said my bite is fine. Last time I went in he changed my ties and said, "You're done with elastics see you in 6 weeks." Then I came in today and he changed my ties and said, "Everything's looking great, see you in 6 weeks." I feel as if he is just trying to kill time because I am so far ahead of treatment. He quoted me at 24 months and its been 12. Also, another orthodontist office quoted me at 18 months. But I'm 19 and was super responsible with my elastics and everything for the past year. That's why I am so far ahead. Sue (my technician) said that everything would be fine if I got them off early. I just wish I knew the reason why he wants to wait another 6 weeks without doing anything at all to my elastics or wires. My braces are all paid off (I paid for them myself) and I want them off. but I don't want to make a mistake. But if my teeth are perfect and he's not working on my bite, what would it hurt? Thoughts!?
Thank you!

Just a thought: some doctors like to wait up to three months after everything is done, without anymore "tweaks" to give the teeth time to settle before debanding. Maybe that's it.
