Today I got the Damon brace fitted on my top teeth, the bottom set is to be done soon and I also had to have a nance thing fitted on the roof of my mouth to stop my molars moving forward into the free space.
The issue I have is not with the self-ligating braces, but with the nance thing on the roof of my mouth, It's not tight against the roof of my mouth and there is a gap in between my mouth and the acrylic block thing and I can't eat let alone talk and it is so frustrating! I just need to know if this is correct or if it should be tight against my mouth it would make my life so much easier.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
I know some appliances similar to your do touch the roof of the mouth, but I thing there is several that don't. It may be in your best interest to call your orthodontist and ask them about it was know one knows your treatment plan better than they do!

It's best they don't touch the roof of your mouth Refresh, as then it can irritate and cause the skin to grow over the nance ... not a nice thing to happen.
You will need to practise talking out loud, plus cutting your food into smaller pieces while you adjust your eating style. Also keep well hydrated, so that your mouth and body feel better.
Good luck with this adjustment period ... it will pass, and usually quickly!![]()
