First off, I have had braces b4 but I need them again for a few corrections.
My questions is what are the advantages of damon other than they are quicker, hurt less, and are smaller? The reason I ask is because I have an offer for damon for 5000 or regular braces for 1300.
Miike please read the other posts on this site. You'll also see posts from an orthodontist who regularly writes on here and his blog.
Brackets are brackets ... they don't move teeth. They're bonded there ... and that's it. They look a bit different, so that different companies and marketing people can make money from the orthdontist's and us. For teeth to move, you need archwires used in the hands of people trained in this discipline ... orthodontist's. These archwires are the same memory wires that are used by most (if not all) orthodontists'.
There is no such thing a a 'brand name' system ... it's about using bracket braces (like damon, 3M etc), or aligner braces (like invisalign etc), retainers ... or some other system to move teeth.
consult with at least two, preferrably at least three orthodontist's and choose the person you feel most comfortable with, the person who you believe will give you the best results.
Good luck, as this beginning phase can be hard work ... especially since there's big money to be made by the marketing companies.
Here's to everything going well for your treatment!![]()
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
