Damon braces patient since Julay 2007! please help!!

I am a Damon 3 patient with a local doctor in my country. I’ve been taking the treatment since July 2007. I am still wearing the braces!

Initially I only had some minor spaces but naturally straight and nice arch. I have gone through the treatment but I wasn’t happy with the result as my profile started sagging at the finish phase, my cheeks, nose and lips started collapsing and I had to re do the treatment again and still not benefiting. I wonder if you can assist? I am so desperate and changed my life, it has been frozen for the last 2.5 years I just can’t tolerate that anymore. Below is the sequence of my treatment:

July 2007 – March 2008 – copper .014
April 2008 – Oct 2008 – copper .016
Nov 2008 –Jan 2009 – copper .018 + elastic for spaces closure
Jan 2009 – May 2009 copper 19*25 + elastic for spaces closure

Since he started closure I started feeling the collapse and with the final wire I felt really bad sagging and collapse of my cheeks, my age today is 27 I already have turkey sagging cheeks as result of that, latter in 2009 I had to have copper .018 again to fix that problem but its not so much developed so I had to go back to copper .014 for 2.5 months and .016 for a month and then the 14*25 for one month and .018 for a month.

I was still unhappy with the obvious loose skin I had. So the doctor advised to have the .014 again for around 3 – 4 months for face lifting and then close the case with the retainers. Please help me i dont know what to do!

I'm sorry to read about how unhappy you are with the orthodontist who's treating you.

I recommend you make appointments to consult with at least two more orthodontist's to find out what they recommend to make your treatment the best possible outcome for you.

Please don't pay online for consultations, as for an accurate diagnosises, the orthodontist requires to see you in person and to study your x-rays.

i've been trying to locate Damon 3 specialist in the region, i culdnt fine any. do you know how i can locate specialist? do u think my saggin skin can be fixed with the braces?

IKKA, i find it hard to understand what you mean about saggin skin. Is your face? one side or both? Did it happen at one time or gradualy??? It makes me think that its muscle related

Ikka you don't need to see a damon specialist. Damon is just the brand name of a bracket and any ortho who has skill can use any type of bracket, due to brackets not moving teeth. Please don't allow the advertisers to mislead you about this issue.

You need to consult with skilled orthodontist's. It won't matter what type of bracket they use, as it's the archwire in the hands of a skilled person that moves your teeth and it seems that this is where your concerns are.

I also have no idea what you mean about this sagging. Have you lost weight, or lost and gained weight a few times?

Good luck finding a few good orthodontist's to consult with.

I read somewhere that your face can change slightly when you are wearing braces because, when you eat, you are using different muscles to the ones you use without braces. You are only young but some changes could be due to natural ageing. I hope you get it sorted.
