Fantastic ... keep your hydration levels high and remember to use plenty of wax if your any brackets rub.

    Take care!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

I'm a little over 2 weeks in, and I'm already used to them. The biggest problem I have is staying hydrated. The times I'm the least hydrated are the times I "notice" the braces more. But for the most part, they feel like I've had them forever, especially the bottom ones (except for the molar band bracket sticking out in the back!).

Congrats and good luck to you! Can't wait to see the pics.

I agree with Cathy ... when I'm well hydrated I forget about having braces, as I don't feel them, but if I get dry then my mouth feels everything and the scratchy feeling can be really annoying.

Good luck with feeling better and better as each day passes!

Trust me... you will be able to eat a burger. I think I waited a week or so before attempting a McDonald's hamburger. It took me a while, but I did it. I haven't tried pizza yet. Maybe after I'm fully banded, sometime next month.

My daughter started a routine. When she got her uppers she was in the chair from nine and finished at noon. So she said she's starving and I asked what she wanted for lunch or eat at school. So she opted for a smashburger. Super good burgers. I said you can't eat a burger after braces. She said sure I can and she did. It's good she did for lunch cuz by the time she got back from school she was sore. And it took a couple of weeks before she could eat burgers or pizza. She usually gave up half way. So then when she got her lowers we did the same thing so she ate her fav burger before the agony begins. But boy what a difference between the damon clear vs metal. The burger gets all in the metal but just seems to slide off the ceramic. Interesting how different foods stick to them. And much harder to clean. Well good luck.

Hi - i really like those new Damon Clears. Any idea why they can only put them on the social 6? if I get ceramics - they will be on all of my upper teeth and it just so happens (due to extractions and the way my teeth are in general) that you can see all EIGHT of my teeth when I smile up top. But it seems they are only placed on front 6 - is that because they are not strong enough due to what they are made of? I don't think the damon clears are made of true ceramic, but rather another material. any thoughts? thks!

    Hi Mel!

When I was contemplating getting clear braces, I asked my ortho if they would only be on the social 6, and he said "No, you'd have them all the way across the top." The cost was still going to be $300 more, regardless of how many of them I got.

Some ortho's offer only front six, due to those being the main teeth that show when most people smile, unless they're doing 'fish' impersonations. We offer as many as the person wants. Most are happy to have six or eight ... but for a few how have big mouths, we will put 10 on. We can't use them on the last teeth, as the molar brackets we use are metal and I've never seen a person smile who shows their molar brackets.

There are different qualities of ceramic, but for orthodontics the brackets needs to be hard and this is why most ceramic brackets will damage teeth if the teeth knock on them ... the quality is hard ... very hard!
