I am off to the ortho at 1 for my new damons

I need any advice you have for me. I am 34 yo and extremely nervous, If it wasn't so close to my app. I would probably cancel....Top 6 damon clear with the rest metal. I am so worried about my appearance, I know that sounds crazy but can't help it. I am having my treatment done with something called sure smile. Have any of you had that??? They use 3D imaging and a computer custom designs the wire for your teeth. Oh yea, do the damon clear stain as badly as the ceramic? I love my coffee and I know I need to cut back and brush right after but I don't want to give it up all together....

Hi.....well I presume it's all done now and there's no going back? Hopefully you are pleasantly surprised at how good they look? I've seen pictures of Damon clears on this site and they look really good. I am presuming you have self-ligating brackets if they are Damon clears, in which case, they won't stain. Ceramic brackets don't stain. The things that stain are the elastic ligatures (which go around each bracket on traditional braces), powerchains and anything else elastic which can be attached to your brackets at any time during treatment.

This won't be an issue for you yet but you will no doubt get powerchains at some point during you treatment so remember to go for darker colours or silver if you want to avoid staining.

Sure Smile sounds amazing. Keep us posted on how that works. Good luck.

Ceramic upper, metal lower for a total of 17 months.

Damon Clears are great! Fantastic you made the choice to get them! Its hard sometimes, but I have personaly received great reception!
I love having them, they are so clear, I think I feel much more confident as apposed to getting all metal

Hi - Just wondering if you could give an update on how it all went. My appointment is 1 month away and like you were I am extremely nervous about my appearance! Was it as a bad as you expected? Are you still happy with your decision? Also - how do you find having just the top front 6 in clear?

@katie82 When I first got my ceramics I was extremely worried about my appearance!! I'm 26 years old and I was worried that people would make fun of me or look at my teeth all the time. But the longer I wear my braces and the more my teeth get straighter I smile bigger and more often! I'm really proud to wear my braces!

At 25, (2weeks ago) I went with regular metal damon style braces. Completely noticeable. And no one has said a word to me. I go out to bars, at work, even my family. They just ask when I got them and move on. At the most, I might explain them by saying "I got braces last week because I wanted a nicer smile." And really.. no one says anything derogatory or rude to that.
