    Figure 8 wire problems

So I have had the wired figure 8 on my top 6 for almost 4 weeks now, I have had to wear wax on the bracket where the wire stop ever since it was put on, but everytime I try to not wear the wax it cuts into my mouth so much. If I went back to the ortho would they just tell me to wear more wax and just deal with it? I hate always having to have wax on me, it even hurts to eat when i dont have wax.
    Advise please?

I think if it hurts even to eat - and it looks like you have another five weeks before your next appointment - you should phone your ortho and ask them to make an adjustment. There is no need to have that degree of constant discomfort! I suspect there is something that can be done to alleviate your pain.

I have never hesitated to make a call to my ortho to get answers to my questions. In fact, I think it is expected that patients - especially adults - will have questions as well as "complications" that they will insist on having addressed. Make a call, and good luck getting this resolved asap!

Definitely give your ortho a call lauralea!

Is the end of the wire sticking out? If it is, use something soft, like the eraser end of a pencil.

Until it's sorted, keep it well covered with wax at all times, as you don't want to damage the inside of your mouth.

    Good luck!

    thanks guys,
I actually stopped by my ortho office this am while getting of work (i worked overnight and the wire was a CONSTANT pain in the mouth!)
They were able to fit me right in, waited maybe 5 mins or so. It was really quick and I just had to see one of the assistants so she could change the figure 8 wire ties.
Thanks for the help, I actually feel nervous about going in for stuff like that...anyhow it feels MUCH MUCH better!
