Cool GOT MY DAMON CLEAR's IN TODAY -- EXCITED !

Hey guys finally got my DAMON's in today.

Have damon clear on the top front 6, and metal with little coloured dots on the rest.

Had them in for 9 hours now - I can feel the pressure on my teeth more and more... think the tenderness stage is starting - BRING IT ON !

Got mine put on at the London Bridge Dental Practice in "LONDON- UK"

Guys at what stage will I not notice the pressure on my teeth anymore??

Great that your treatment has started!

Hopefully it won't be too long before the archwire gets things moving and you don't feel the pressure. Keep well hydrated, use wax generously, eat well, chew often and keep busy! The more time you spend thinking about having your braces, or feeling them due to poor hydration, the longer it will take!

    Good luck!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

I found the first week really hard, but it got better from the 2nd week onwards and by the 3rd week I couldn't feel any pain and could forget about my braces most of the time. Good luck.
Bonded retainers fitted upper and lower & braces removed at 19 months 2 weeks.

    Braces were:

    In-Ovation C on the top
    Damon on the bottom

Its DAY 4 for me and well not been able to eat anything solid as my teeth are sooo sensitive. The aches have almost gone, but the sensitivity is there when I touch the teeth, its decreasing and hopefully I'll be able to eat something solid soon. Thankfully have been getting all my nutrition through delicious home made soups (obrigado mae!).

I can definately see movement in my teeth, a small gap less the 1mm has appeared in the upper left front teeth. and the gep between the front two teeth is smaller.

I got my Damons on the day after you! Clear on top, and regular metal on bottom. Right now my teeth aren't as sensitive as a couple days ago, but I have these blue cement bite blocks on my bottom two molars, which is making it difficult to chew anything really. Sticking to mostly soft foods and soups. Sometimes I use the bite blocks to help me chew. This is definitely going to be a challenge!

I'm excited for our journey with braces!

well done Lightskinnn for getting the damons ! How long is your treatment gonna be for?

I've had mine on for 8 days now. I still cant bite into solid foods - my teeth feel "numb". Is this normal ?? Been having a liquid diet since...
I have a check-up at the dentist on tuesday so will bring it up with him, but what do you guys think?????

congrats on getting your damon braces! i got mine on october 21st. the sensitivity is all gone exept for when i bite down too hard on my bottom teeth which are overcrowded. the bottom teeth are a little loose i can feel it and very sensitive esp since i have some bone loss there.
i woke up one morning and the back wire had come undone out of the back tube (on my second to last molar...my last molar has a bracket on it but no wire). i freaked out and tried to do it myself but no luck. i read up the paperwork my ortho gave me which said to try and use a tweezer if this happens. i couldn't do it so i asked my boyfriend and he indid it though he was worried about breaking the wire! its very flexible though so it was no biggie.
the only thing i hate is food getting stuck in weird places ugghh..lol. always brushing and flossing.

My front teeth, top and bottom, are still slightly sore so biting down hurts a little bit. But my molars seem to be okay so chewing is fine. I'm getting use to my bite blocks as well, using them to chew. I still can't eat bread though, it just takes too long.

My treatment is 18-24 months! I'm hoping more towards 18

Hi latinthug, do you have some pictures of your Damon Clear and Damon Q? I would be interested in seeing some real pictures instead of those advertised Damon Clear and Damon Q pictures on the internet... I am thinking about getting Damon Clear... Thanks!

ok it will be 6 weeks tomorrow (already?) since I had my damon put in, and well im IMPRESSED.

I had a big gap between my upper front two teeth to begin with and the Gap has almost closed, theres just a tiny gap left...its shocking how different my smile looks. Im actually starting to think that I want to keep a small gap.

My teeth have lost the initial month long sensitivity- im now able to bite harder things - however tough things like steaks and crusty bready are still no-go areas.

All in all - im sooo impressed. no one can even believe im wearing the damon clears unless they're right up close !

    FULLY RECOMMEND DAMON CLEARS!!!!

ps will be changing the wire in my brace for the first time in Jan - been told it will be painful - is that true?

Great that thngs are going so well for you and hopefully you'll be able to eat all your usual foods again real soon!

Wire changes may cause discomfort for some people, but for most people there might be an hour or two of 'that changed' feeling, then it's all good as the archwire gets to work making any changes that are necessary.

Hope your adjustment is a good one!

Yes it prob will feel a bit like it did at the beginning when the wire is changed. However, it won't last as long as it did at the beginning and should be ok within a few days (for me, anyway).
Bonded retainers fitted upper and lower & braces removed at 19 months 2 weeks.

    Braces were:

    In-Ovation C on the top
    Damon on the bottom

How have you been doing with the bite blocks? I've had mine for 4 days now and they are driving me insane. I'm so tempted to reach in there with a nail file and grind them down a little. Basically the gap they create between my top and bottom teeth is big enough for me to slide my tongue through. I tried eating ziti for lunch the other day, and all it did was slide around in my mouth.

damaster, below your original post, one of the responders said she had bite blocks too. I'll message her directly.

I have an underbite. So when I close my mouth, the back of my top teeth touches the front of my bottom teeth. When they put the Damon's on the bottom, the top teeth run into them. So to stop that, my mouth needs to be partially open all the time.
I have this blue polymer stuck to my 1st molars on top. Probably 2-3mm thick overall. But it creates a gap between my top and bottom teeth when I try to close my teeth... it's a big enough gap that I can stick my tongue in the crack, and it makes chewing/eating fairly difficult.

Hopefully you won't have to go through that.

    @ports

I have had my bite blocks for almost 3 months now, and I can hardly tell that I have them in because some teeth touch now, and my molars have ground them down a lot over the past few weeks. I still use them to chew though.

There will be foods you can't eat for sure, or if you can it will just take you longer. I basically can't eat lettuce or any "leafy" veggies, thin noodles are slightly difficult (was almost impossible before)... and steak? Forget about it! But the more you chew with them the more they will grind down and form within your mouth, so try and eat as regularly as you can. It will take some time, but soon you will really know what you can and cannot eat.

I have an overbite so when I bite naturally my top teeth hit my bottom brackets. I will probably get more blue cement (molar build up) added to my molars next week at my first follow-up appointment. Man I cannot WAIT until I can eat salad again!! I miss it!

Your teeth are touching already? Interesting. I called up the Ortho today and I let her know that the blue cement was really uncomfortable. This is kind of a pain because I'm a vegetarian. And part of my lunch everyday is a salad. I've been able to eat a few things like an egg salad sandwich, but I don't think I'm going to be able to chew lettuce with the blue cement. Enchiladas are ok if the tortilla is well soaked.

How long was it till you could eat pizza? Thin crust, preferably.

Yup my teeth touch now. I will be taking pictures of my teeth this weekend so you can see the difference from my first day of bite blocks and now. If you are going to eat pizza it needs to be pretty soft. It took me about 2 months before I had enough "courage" to eat it. Sometimes it gets tough for me to chew the cheese, but just take your time and you should be able to eat it fine.

What about soup and pasta? Until your bite blocks better form in your teeth you may have to stick with really soft foods like eggs, soup, pasta, etc. For me it really sucked for the first month, but it will get better, I promise.

Sorry I havent posted for a while now guys !

But according to my counter its been - 6 months, 4 weeks and 1 day since i had them fitted!

Had a few wire changes - FELT NO PAIN - slight discomfort on the first few days after each change but it gradually dissappears.

My teeth have moved so much ! Its fantastic. My front gap is but a distant memory. Its funny because when it first closed I actually missed it and considered asking the dentist to get it back (albeit in a smaller form) but now im used to having the gap completely closed.

My main problem was that my upper arch was too small - the DAMONS have opened it up - hence my smile is now wider. My dentist says that he still wants to get it wider! Im all for it !

Oh and another thing - I cant stop smiling - everyone comments on how happy I look! Previously being embarrassed about my teeth - I would avoid smiling.

    I really recommend the damons!!

Fantastic that your teeth have made so many wonderful changes!

The archwires are what moves your teeth and it sounds like your's are responding well to moving in your exisiting arch. It's wonderful when you feel like smiling more often!

Here's to your progress continuing to go well!

How have you found the London Bridge dental practise? I'm looking for a London practise (I'm based in Canary Wharf), can I ask how much you paid for the Damons?

@Latinthug - I'd also be really interested in your thoughts on LBDP, I had a consultation there and I'm deciding between Damon Clears there and the Radiance brackets at a place in Battersea. Thanks!!

    Smile

@Kingo, I can't recommend LBDP enough - DR. Michael is really good !

@James723 - cant really give you a price as what you need done to your teeth might be completely different to mine. For example I could say I paid £200 for my treatment, and then you go to LBDP and you have different issues with your teeth that need fixing and then the estimate it to be £800, while your expecting to pay just £200 - its really a case by case costing.

What you could do is compare the quote they give you with another dentist!

    But the LBDP is FANGTASTIC!!

Currently I've had my DAMONS for 10 months, 2 weeks and 3 days! I was thinking that my teeth had slowed down with there movement but Dr.Micheal showed me the plastercast of my teeth before the damons went on...boy was I shocked - COMPLETELY CHANGED - I'm going to upload the pics for you later... Icant believe I was walking around with teeth that bad !

Hi i just have a few questions about your Damon Clear's...to everyone haha. How obvious do you think they are? I am considering them (in UK) but have never actually met anyone with them and dont want them to stand out even more because they are rarely seen if you know what i mean? Also have you noticed any staining? and did the ortho whiten/clean your teeth before you got them on?? Also are they comfier than the metal on the bottom? i'm having such a trouble deciding whihc ones to go for as have heard both bad and good reviews on damon q and damon clears. ahhhh.

    [Bracey,

I have clear on the top and metal on the bottom and to be honest I cant feel a difference in comfort between the two.

The clears however are nicer to look at!!! Get the clears if you worried about others looking at you !!
