Insurance coverage on braces, if I change carriers?

Right now I'm on a Cobra policy for Delta Dental. My company switched benefits packages 18 months ago and we didn't update our dental yet. So I've just been paying and using my old Delta Dental.

DD has paid out about $600 of my $2000 Lifetime Orthodontic Coverage.

My office is working on a new dental package. Lets say it's still with Delta. But I'd have a new company group, policy number, etc. If my new policy covers Orthodontics, will that reset me back to $0 paid out from the Lifetime benefit (whatever the new policy allows), or will it have $600 subtracted. Also, what if I go to a new carrier?

Since no one answered.. here's the information I got.

Delta said since they were billed for the braces while I was under their coverage... they were billed for the full amount. Even though I'm not on that policy, they have to finish paying, since they were billed when I was.

And my new policy will take over with it's benefits as needed.
