New wire is making my molars really temperature-liquid sensitive

I can take a decent amount of pain but this is getting ridiculous.
On April 6th I went from a 018 starter wire to a 016. It was fine for about 2 weeks. Just the normal "my teeth are moving" pain.

but for the last week my bottom molars on the left side have been really really temperature and liquid sensitive. The pain is on the level of someone kicking you in the foot when your leg falls asleep.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm guessing it's going to go away soon, i hope. or should I be concerned? My gums don't look inflamed, my teeth aren't loose, and it doesn't really hurt to chew or bite on those molars.

I've never heard a patient talk about anything like this. If you're really concerned, a phone call to your ortho's office should help put your mind at ease.

Hopefully the archwire has just managed to get those molars moving and they're causing the sensitivity. If you're not already using toothpaste for sensitive teeth (like sensodyne) I recommend you change. Also rinsing with warm salt water is soothing and healing.

    Good luck with your progress!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

Sometimes I feel liquid sensitivity in my front teeth, which I never had before having the braces on, but it's bearable.. so I think you should go with Sunny's advice!
    Hope it gets better soon!!

I just got back into town last night.
I'll give the ortho a call in the morning.

Sunny, i think it's just the movement of that molar that's caused the sensitivity. I'll try the warm salt water tonight. I haven't needed Sensodyne yet, but I will give that a shot too.
