Rachel if it's hurting with lumps it would be worth giving your ortho a call to explain what it feels and looks like.
Good luck with this being something that corrects itself quickly!
I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed before I got my braces on. I have an open coil on the bottom to create room to pull two teeth forward. I'm having A LOT of pain in the area where my lower right wisdom tooth was removed. (My wisdom teeth were removed back in December so it's nothing to do with the healing). There's a little red bump that I thought might be an abscess, but it's on the left side too. I don't know if it's pain because the teeth are spreading out, or if it's something I should have checked. Could I ask the ortho? I don't want to call and schedule a dentist appointment and waste my dentist's time, but it's extremely painful and my lower back molars on the right side hurt as well.
RIGHT SIDE (this is the side that's causing a lot of pain):
LEFT SIDE:
They both have little lump type things, but the right side is the only side that hurts. It hurts to chew and brush on that side as well. I apologize because these pictures are so horrible but it's quite difficult trying to pull your cheek back, hold a light, AND take a picture lol. I get bad anxiety thinking that I'm going to be wasting my dentist's time or thinking that I'm going for no reason. Has anybody dealt with something similar?
Edit: Now have pretty severe pain on the left side too. There was a bit of bleeding on the right side when I brushed my teeth tonight (my gums never bleed). Could is just be due to the teeth moving so much?

After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
You're never wasting your dentist's time when it comes to dealing with pain! Give them a call and get their opinion about what is causing it. I hope it's not too serious!
