Do anyone elses braces hit the gum line??

I'm wearing Damon Clears and they sit right on the gumline on some of my teeth. My orthodontist was talking about how Damon brackets are meant to be placed "uncomfortably gingival", uncomfortable for the ortho b/c they're not used to placing them so high. She said that this is b/c Damon have a tendency to pull the teeth outward a bit too much so the high placement was to prevent this.
I trust her, but have never seen or heard of placement like this. Has anyone else???

Never ... and they're an ordinarly ceramic self ligating brackets ... which means I have no understanding of why.

We have a few on thi board with ceramic self ligating brackets. Have a look and see if your brackets are bonded in a similar place.

Some ortho's choose to bond brackets in a place, other than the middle of the tooth. They have their reasons and I'm sure for their treatment plan, this is the best place for them.

Yes, mine are placed high, too. But as time went on some moved a bit away from the gum line, others a bit up...I never worried about it much since it's temporary and my gums are extremely healthy.
