The clear retainers are like Invisalign where you can remove them when you eat and brush your teeth. I probably have about a year to goCongrats on your debanding!! Let's see some pictures!
I'm due to get my damons off on Wednesday! (YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY) - I was quoted 18 months but I'm getting them off a month early. My ortho says that I could.![]()
I wanted to know how is the process when getting the retainers. I hear that they hurt and its hard to eat. The thing is I only have to wear mines at night for one year according to my orthodontist...will it be so bad that I won't be able to eat a meal??? I'm just curious.
Thanks.

Wearing your retainers at night for only one year will mean that nothing will be holding your teeth after that. This makes it possible for them to move. Please speak to your orthodontist to discuss why retainers only need to be worn for one year. Generally, teeth have a tendency to move throughout one's lifetime.

If you only wear retainers for a year your teeth will move when you stop wearing them. I have permanent retainers on both upper and lower front teeth and I wear the clear Essix retainers at night also. Admittedly I tend to only wear the Essix every 3 nights or so but I will do this for the rest of my life. Speak to your ortho, you don't want to go through this only to have them move again. Good luck with your debanding.
