Damon Braces vs. Palatal Expander for cross-bite

I have seen 2 orthodontists who have differing opinions on treatment for my 7 (almost 8) year-old daughter's crossbite. One suggested a palatal expander and the other uses damon braces for treatment of the same issue. I am concerned because I have heard that braces alone are not effective in treating a crossbite. Here is a summary of one of the orthodontist's findings: excess upper spacing, normal overbite, normal overjet, posterior crossbite on the right, upper midline on, lower midline to her left and a functional shift." I am planning on seeing more orthodontists for their opinions, but wanted to see if anyone else had some experience with this and could offer some advice. Any words of wisdom?

I have had a crossbite and currently have the Damon System.
The crossbite was fixed within the first 8 weeks of treatment...total treatment time so far is 1 year.
I'm a 40 year old female.
Damons fixed everything from crossbite, open bite (left side), deep bite (front) and buckteeth (front). I am in the Finishing Phase now.

Did your doctor do an arch expander while in your Damon system?

I have an expander but it was used to give me more space on my top arch because it is very small and very crowded, you said your daughter has space in her upper arch so I not sure that she would really need more space to fix anything. Just my two cents worth - I think you seeing other Ortho's is a great idea. Ask them this question too and I hope you get the answer your looking for. Good Luck
