Unhappy 2nd brace, age 24, maybe its pointless

    hello people,

I am 24 and really want to put right what happened when i was 13-14, i had a traditional brace, and sadly that meant having the pre-molars removed. so i had the top 2 and bottom 2 removed in order to create space and pull in the teeth.

consequently my smile is narrow, teeth are still crook-ed and i just really want a nice smile for once.

From what i understand, Damon system can widen the smile, however since i now dont have those teeth (pre molars) will this be achievable? or would i be left with gaps? currently i have a small gap between the canine and 2nd pre molars. would it be possible to bring the molars left out at the sides of my jaw meaning it would achieve the wide smile?

i really want a wide straight smile.

what position am i in? would i need implants?! :o :S

i have also looked into the 6 month smile, but tbh if the damon system could pull back out the rear teeth and straighten it all up and widen it at the same time then of course id use this system

many thanks for replies in advanced

Im 25 and getting my 4 pre molars removed tomorrow... I don't have a 2nd set of pre molars so I will only have 24 teeth.

The Crime: Protruding upper canine, upper and lower crowding.
    Sentence: 2 years
    Fine: $4,100
First day with brackets: 12/05/2011. 4 Extractions: 12/12/11. 1st Adjustment: 01/04/12. 2nd Adjustment: 2/15/12 Pulling the canine down. 3rd Adjustment 3/28/12 (canine's in the wire, and pulled into position!). 4th adjustment: 5/16/2012 (closing the gaps!)

well many researches have shown that Damon system can't extend your jaw, maybe it will reduce the treatment time but for the space I don't think so. I went to a dentist who is clinical prof of UPenn and he offered me SL system but I still have to do 4 extraction because I'm an adult now so it's hard to do jaw extension (I'm 21 years old). Hope this can help

I wish I had better teeth too, but maybe you just need accept what you have? i wish I could obtain a WIDE smile like angelina jolie, but I know that will never be possible.

went to the dentist, and basically, the only way it would be possible to get this straight wide smile would be to, get the damon brace system, expand the arch, and in doing so it would cause gaps to occur, so they would carefully need to make gaps for false teeth to be implanted, so...

i would need a brace for 18 months maybe two years, then it would require 4 implants, each costing 2 to 2500 pounds, so overall looking at £15,000 pounds..

i am thinking, until i work full time and have a good job then this simply isn't realistic. however i could get a brace for 3-4 months to straighten what i do have and then perhaps go for this treatment at a later date.
