Your ortho will decide what is best for the lowers. Mine insisted upon Damon metal but I have all Damon clear on top. Almost nobody notices them.
Hi,
I've just had a consultation for braces. I'm 21 and I've always been really self-conscious about my smile. My teeth aren't overly crooked but my bite is a little off and my teeth are slightly rotated outwards. My orthodontist has recommended that I have the Damon Clear braces on my top front 6 teeth, with metal on the bottom and back. However, I'm a little worried about the aesthetics of the metal at the bottom, particularly with the job I'll be in 3 months after I get my braces fitted.
I was considering either having damon clear on the top front 6 with all the rest using Clarity ceramic braces, OR I was wondering if Damon Clear can be combined with Damon 3s at the back and bottom? Anyone have any idea?
Thanks.

I am about your age and my ortho suggested the same, i.e. Damon clear on my upper 6 and the rest metal. I remember him saying ceramics on the bottom run the risk of chipping your upper front teeth. While I am not starting a new job, I am starting my PhD in the new year and was concerned about the aesthetics of the metal braces but I have now decided to embrace (sorry!) my orthodontic treatment.
have since spoke to my ortho. Looks like i'll be getting damon clear on the top front 6 with damon 3 on the rest of my teeth. pretty happy with that![]()
Just had my first appt. Getting my braces fitted in a month and a bit! My ortho only has clears for the social six, so I'm getting that with damon 3s on the rest.
