gaps in teeth

Hi
Aged 49 + Damon braces on for 6 months now. Major gaps in teeth top and bottom, very upsetting. Is this normal, have other people had this. dentist appointment in Feb which will be 12 weeks since last follow up. Can anyone offer me advice or calming words of wisdom??

I can't believe its been a month and no responses on this thread! I'm 7 mos into mine and yes, TONS of gaps have formed! Some on top, most on bottom. 2wks ago I got elastics and powerchains to close the gaps. Don't worry its all part of the process. Making space to create your arch, and then you'll have powerchains pull them all together (if you haven't already lol). Id have to say the gaps are (so far) the most frustrating part of my braces. I look like I'm missing teeth. Good news is, 2 wks into the powerchains and the gaps are about 80% closed. Whew
