They're on!
So, after 7 months the braces are finally on. Felt a bit conscious for a while but it is amazing how you forget about them after a while and I felt a lot better just TELLING people. I am 53 and work in a very public arena. If I can do it, you can too.
The experience:
1. Not a single bit of pain - a bit of pushing and shoving and even a bit of drilling of an old composite filling.
2. The whole process took about 45 minutes from start to finish.
3. I can talk! Those of you that have followed my blog posts (hello mum!) will know that I had a bite plate in which gave me an awful lisp. Now I can talk and sing!
4. No pain yet. It is now 8 hours since they were applied. Not a single bit of pain yet. I am sure it will come.
I am glad the process has started.

Hi Mark,
Did you ever consider Invisalign? I am 56 and considering the Damon system or Invisaglign and trying to decide which would be best since I will be in them for at least two years.

No I didn't really consider them. I remember going through the process of deciding and dismissed them for some reason or other. I quickly went on to the Damon system as there seemed to be good reviews, they give a relatively quick result and the cost did not seem to be more than other systems.
Then a friend of a friend got Damons at the age of 60 and I saw her transform into someone with a lot of confidence (not that I am not confident). It swung it for me,
I went for the Damon clears on top. Have been in them for 2 days now and alredy feel much less conscious of them
Go for it!
