Are you referring to the small sleeves on the wires? These are stops that prevent the wire from excessive movement. Mine have come loose from time to time and needed to be re-clamped.
Hi all. So, I've had braces for almost a month and a half now, and I have a question about my wires.
There are these little pieces of metal on the wires and I'm not sure what they're there for. They kinda stick out of the wires, and they can sort of slide around. If I move one, the one on the opposite side moves as well. What are these? Is it bad for me to be able to move them?
Sorry if this is confusing, but any help is greatly appreciated!
I have had these as well. They are supposed to keep your wire from moving too much.
Good question, I've been wondering that myself. I have 2 pairs of those and my ortho keeps moving them around. Is that to prevent the tooth from moving too much in one direction?
Hello everyone
I'm four days into my Damon braces treatment and noticed that there are two tiny metal, tube-like pieces on my upper and lower wires. The one's on the top wire are fixed in position but the one's on the bottom are sliding freely along the wire. I am quite concerned that this is causing my teeth to move in a way that my ortho did not intend so I am going to call up first thing on Monday morning (unfortunately they are closed on the weekends). I hope this doesn't prolong my treatment >_<
