It's time to chill Mariah!
In the adult world, you don't need to be concerned about your orthodontist reacting to 'silly talk', if he should hear it. Your orthodontist is a trained professional and as such would never intentional 'mess' with your teeth. I love your overactive imagination and it's fun to be reminded of how some things are such a huge deal for young people. About the Z steps. Ask your ortho what these will do to your teeth and then if you need more information, ask why you need them. Mostly tweaking like this, results in small movement to help your teeth/bite fit together in a better way. This Z step doesn't sound like it will make a space, but more like it may improve your alignment. I look forward to hearing how your ortho describes it to you. Enjoy your celebration and your adjustment! |

Mariah, Mariah, Mariah! Let's employ a little objective thought here.
1. How do you know that girl hates you? Has she told you as much, or is this just something you've cooked up in your own mind? 2. Even if this girl does dislike, or even hate you, why would a grown woman (the ortho's assistant/girl's older sister) possibly consider risking her job and reputation by making such a foolhardy request of her employer? 3. Even if the sister/assistant did make such a momumentally stupid request, why would a mature professional, who has his reputation, his professional accredation, and his malpractice insurance rates to protect indulge in something so silly as "messing up" your mouth to satisfy the petty desire of a teenage girl? You need to step out of this world you've cooked up where people are out to get you, where others are willing to risk all to help them do so, and where everything in your orthodontic treatment is a trial, cooked up primarily to make you look daft, and learn to look at your orthodontic treatment as something that is being done for your benefit, and those who are doing this work as responsible professionals who are trying to help you. Short version: stop borrowing trouble. |

2. I don't know that girl's sister. But if being mean runs in the family, she might not care, maybe she just wants a laugh, or just to please her sister by doing a favour for her. You never know... 3. I guess it doesn't make sense to ruin my mouth to the orthodontist. I look silly already. I better get that smile I wanted... *brick'd* |

Well researched Mariah, now it's time to chill and trust your ortho.
Yes on a few occasions some orthodontists will not have done their profession proud, but this occurs in all areas of the real world, but we need to believe it's not happening to us, unless we have proof ... real proof. Do remember to ask, as it's important for you to be involved in your treatment! If this girl is really as silly as you write, then forget her and get on with living your own life. Every moment you waste thinking about her and what she (or her sister) might or might not be doing, is a minute you'll never have back. So instead spend your time in ways that you'll benefit from! Enjoy! |

Relax
Ok, Mariah listen, I totally doubt that the orthodontist would mess up your mouth on propose just because you said you hated your orthodontist and he somehow got told. He is a professional and do you know how many kids a day probably say "Ugh, I just tottally hate the ortho". I know i do, ALL THE TIME. So just RELAX. And about the whole "Z thing" as my mother says "It's there problem" Just leave it to them. Good luck, PM me soon -Sam
